Principal Point: February

Congratulations: The following AMHS students have been named National Merit Finalists: Adelaide Basco, Zachary Bodek, Elliot Kronsberg, Samantha Lowell, Joshua Mitchell, Vaibhav Mohanty, Sloan Nietert, Selina Pi, Christine Sacha, Mason Salisbury, Keaton Smith, Ailish Sykes. This is an outstanding academic accomplishment, and we celebrate it with the students.
On the Horizon:
STEM Premier: During the next weeks AMHS students will have the opportunity to establish an electronic resume with STEM Premier. Teachers will be trained in the program this week and will work through Focus classes to assist any student wishing to establish an online resume which can be updated any time and which will be available to colleges and professional work places. This is an exciting opportunity for our students and will keep them competitive with students across the nation.
Spring Testing Schedule: The schedule this year has changed somewhat, and the state testing program will include grades 9 -11. The schedule for the testing is listed, and we ask that no appointments be made for these days. The schedule is very tight for AMHS students because it backs up to the two weeks of AP testing:
- April 28 and 29, 2015:
- ACT Aspire for Grades 9 and 10
- ACT Workkeys for Grade 11
- ACT for Grade 11
(For additional information on the ACT tests, please go to the SDE website: http://ed.sc.gov and click on the ACT button. We will be doing preparation for the tests in Focus classes closer to test time.)
- May 4 - 14 AP Testing
- May 15 - 20 Senior Exams
- May 19 - 21 EOC tests (English I, Biology I, US History)
- May 28 - June 2 Final Exams for Grades 9 - 11
- June 3 Graduation
- June 4 Last Day of School
Every day at AMHS is exciting and dynamic, and 2015 lies ahead with even more opportunities for growth and development. Thank you for your continuing support as AMHS moves ahead into the second semester of this school year. If we can help with anything, please call us at 746-1300.
Graduation for the Class of 2015 is June 3, 2015 at 2:30 PM

PIE is currently looking to fill in some Board positions, if you have an interest in serving, please contact amhspie@gmail.com and I will be happy to forward your name and interest to the Nominations Committee. Nominations will be occurring in March, Elections will be in May and the new Board takes over in July. Check the Raptor Report next week for more details.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend; I think there is a general countdown to Spring happening everywhere but the moon? Bless our teachers, staff and students!

AMHS Spring Break 2016
|

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.
We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.
We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.
The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price-a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music.
