Athens and the Islands...
AMHS Spring Break 2016

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.

We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.

We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.

The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price-a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music. There is a $200 discount for those signing up by December 15, 2014.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You can reach me by phone at 746-1300, ex. 26227 or by email at Mary_Altman@charleston.k12.sc.us

PIE Update

It was great to see so many parents at our College Awareness night last Thursday. The presenters had fun and we received lots of positive feedback from everyone. Thanks to the Hospitality Committee, there were some terrific snacks to tide everyone over through the dinner hour. I will have the presenters' information online soon with some additional resources as well. Look under the PIE tab on the AMHS web site; College Awareness Evening Resources.

Our next BIG EVENT is just 10 days away; MARDI GRAS!  Becky and John Dornisch and their wonderful team of volunteers have a truly delightful evening planned.  The Shem Creek Boogie Band will be playing beach music all night long; the wine, beer and Hurricanes will be flowing and the silent auction battles will be hot.  The committee has lined up some FUN things to bid upon as you nibble your way through the delicious dinner and dessert trays.

This year will be SUPER EASY to check in, bid, buy raffle tickets and bracelets for Heads or Tails.  We want to make it simple for our Mardi Gras guests to help fund the needs of our school. If you used a credit card to purchase tickets, you can spend the evening bidding and not have to swipe it again! We'll have RAFFLES to add some chance and excitement for just a few dollars. BRACELETS will be sold too (cash preferred) and one lucky winner of Heads or Tails receives half the proceeds. Last year, it was really exciting when Laura Eicher won the Heads or Tails kitty...I think it was over $400!

Please buy your tickets or become a sponsor this week. Click here for a complete list of sponsors to date. We are excited to start the final planning stages! Hope to see you all soon!
