Members of the AMHS Music Club Perform at Bishop Gadsen Assisted Living |
This past Sunday, January 18, several members of the Music Club performed for the senior residents at Bishop Gadsden. A wide-range of musical styles and instruments were represented. The hour-long program started with classical pianists Fanny Cheung, Jamisen Collier, Noa HaLevi, and Selina Pi playing repertoire by Chopin, Haydn, Schubert, and Debussy (respectively). Several duets (involving guitar, voice, and piano) then followed. They included:
"Just a Boy" by Angus and Julia Stone: Kat Koval and Blake Farrell "Blackbird" by the Beatles: Kat Koval and Zach Zuber "Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel: Jessica Wright and Selina Pi "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd: Jacob Gleaton and Nick Cercio
In fact, there was even a five-member band (Tony Reda, Blake Farrell, Maddie Steen, Peter Sterckx, and John Pavlides) that performed Falling by the Lumineers. In addition, several guitarists (John Pavlides, Emily Rojas, Madeline Richards) and Xiaolan You (flute) also amazed the audience with their musical talents.
Tiffany Yeung (violin) and 3 of her friends from SOA concluded the program with a moving performance of Canon in D Major. The seniors were delighted to have such talented young musicians perform for them, and the musicians can't wait to visit again soon!
***Please contact Whitney Su or Mr. Grimshaw if you would like to participate in Music Club's next performance. All are welcome.***

AMHS Spring Break 2016
|

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.
We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.
We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.
The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price-a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music. There is a $200 discount for those signing up by December 15, 2014.
