Athens and the Islands...
AMHS Spring Break 2016
|

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.
We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.
We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.
The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price-a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music. There is a $200 discount for those signing up by December 15, 2014.

The Gilded Feather Recognizes
Dr. Darlene Rawls
|
The Gilded Feather has landed on the capable shoulder of Dr. Darlene Rawls. She and her husband are the proud parents of Magnet Senior Maya. Darlene became involved at Magnet during Maya's freshman year, attending Booster Club, PIE and AMF meetings and participating in all the events and committees that she had time to pursue. Darlene has been the Chairwoman of the School Improvement Council (SIC) for the past three years. She has guided that organization through big changes, from adjusting to the new campus to bringing AED's and CPR classes to our halls. Most recently, she has spent countless hours writing letters, making calls and attending meetings to defend our students' rights during the scandal surrounding CCSD and our football team. She has pursued this issue tirelessly, and has earned everyone's respect by managing to remain "above the fray" in gaining answers and asking for changes to CCSD policies.
Currently, to benefit our students' health, she has been organizingboth aFreshman Health Series and a Senior Seminar for pre-college issues. Darlene really does go ABOVE and BEYOND to help AMHS!
I want to share with you her credentials, which are extensive: R. B. Stall High School Valedictorian; R. B. Stall Chair of Race Relations; Duke University, A.B., B. S.; Bowman Gray, MD; MUSC, Internal Medicine; AMHS School Improvement Chair; Committee Chair for Health Standards for AMHS; Varsity Cross Country Team Mom; Varsity Lacrosse Team Mom; Co-Chair Celebrate Magnet 25th Anniversary Event; and Member of the Charleston County Medical Society Wellness Committee for CCSD Schools.
Darlene, I have no idea when you find time to sleep, but I want you to know that Magnet is grateful for your outstanding service and we will miss your smiling face when Maya graduates. Thank you for all that you continue to do!
