Mentors Still Needed for Thesis Resource Database |
Dear Parents and Friends of the Academic Magnet High School (AMHS),
The students of AMHS actively engage in academic pursuits both in and out of the classroom. Many students eagerly participate in academic competitions, including science fairs and robotics' competitions, and all seniors must complete the senior thesis, the capstone of the AMHS academic experience. As the school has grown and matured, the challenge to fulfill students' needs for academic and thesis mentors has become more and more difficult. The School Improvement Council (SIC) has been working with several senior thesis advisors to create a database of individuals who could possibly serve as mentors or could assist in identifying mentors in a particular area of study. We are pleased to report that this database is now available for use by the academic advisors, and the advisors will be able to search for potential mentors by field/area of expertise and key word. We would like to enhance this database by including information from current parents and AMHS supporters.
Please consider adding your name to the Senior Thesis Resource Database by providing a small amount of information through the survey linked below. The survey will prompt you to share your name, contact information, company name, position, occupation/field of expertise and keywords (an example of keywords would be that a lawyer specializing in constitutional law may choose constitution and law as keywords). You do not have to complete all of the fields. If you are not be able to serve as a mentor but may be able to help advisors identify mentors, please also complete the survey. If you completed the survey about two years ago, we would like to ask that you resubmit your information through the current survey.

Please contact us if you have questions about the database. Thank you for your time!
Best regards,

AMHS Spring Break 2016
|

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.
We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.
We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.
The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price-a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music. There is a $200 discount for those signing up by December 15, 2014.
