Celebrate Magnet Event Set for February 7 at Blackbaud Atrium

Dear Parents and Friends of AMHS:

February 7, 2015, will be here in about two months so mark your calendar! It's time to celebrate Academic Magnet, "Mardi Gras" style for our annual "Celebrate Magnet" event.

Parents in Education's (PIE) Annual Fundraiser will celebrate a night of "Mardi Gras" fun with friends at the Blackbaud Atrium to raise funds for one of the top ranked public high schools in the nation.

Our goal this year is $50,000 and we will need your help to reach this goal. All funds raised go directly to the school for the support. Without our annual fundraiser and the reaching our goal of $50,000 many of the items for teachers, students and the salaries for administrative support staff would not be possible.

So how can you help? We ask that you, your company or employer be a sponsor for this event and/or donate silent auction items. There are many sponsor options available, from a $250 Owl sponsorship up to a $5,000 Raptor sponsorship! Each sponsorship level provides special benefits

We are also looking for businesses that can donate an item for our silent auction. A few have responded to this request in a prior call to action. This year, we will have themed baskets such as "Pamper Me" (think spa package) or "Tourist in your own town" basket (think hotel stay and a fine restaurant certificate). The themed basket possibilities are endless. We need your help to ask merchants where you shop, eat and play to donate merchandise and/or a gift certificate. We are also in need of more volunteers to help with the event.

To register to become a sponsor or to attend the event, please visit: https://amhspe.ejoinme.org/celebrate2015

We can be successful and reach our goal of $50,000 only with your help. Please consider helping by signing up to become a sponsor or purchasing tickets today!

 SIC Update

Hello Everyone,

SIC has the following updates for the AMHS community.

We are so fortunate to have community leaders to return for the AMHS Freshmen Health Series in January and February 2015.  We are also fortunate that the same group will present a  Senior Health Series in April 2015 before the AMHS Senior Class goes to college. Our Thesis/Mentor Committee has made great progress on the Senior Thesis Database. They are seeking volunteers to mentor the Class of 2016 (email Holly Mitchell, MD).

CCSD is in the process of revising their current Interrogation Policy for all of the children of CCSD.  The School Board will review the new policy this month and we will forward to you as soon as it is available to SIC.

Please volunteer your time, money, and/or talent to one or more of our support groups (PIE, Boosters, AMF, and SIC).

Wishing you a wonderful December,

Technology/Engineering Department Seeking Volunteers for Advisory Board
The Technology/Engineering Department at the Academic Magnet is looking for volunteers to assist with an Engineering Advisory Board. Any parent, engineer, professional or friend of our school is welcome to participate. The Engineering Advisory Board is a requirement of the PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Engineering program and time requirements for participation are very minimal. This board will offer help with all things having to do with the operations of the Engineering program at the Magnet. If interested please send an email to:
