Because we are a sought-after magnet school, we are required to show proof of residency each year before we can register your student. CCSD has set August 1 as the deadline for submitting proof of residency. Letters went out in June with detailed information about how this is done. However, there have been some questions.
You will need to send in
3 documents:
1) The Affidavit, which can be found on our website, amhs.ccsdschool.com under the Parent link, then under Back to School forms, and must be signed and notarized. THE PARENT NAME ON THE AFFIDAVIT MUST MATCH THE NAME ON THE PROPERTY TAX DOCUMENT AND ON THE BILL THAT YOU SEND IN. This is one of the most common causes of having to start over!!
2) A CURRENT lease (this must be dated for the current year), OR a Charleston County property tax bill/document. This is easy to find on www.charlestoncounty.org, click the Real Property link, then search by your name. Print the form that shows taxes paid with the address at the top. Only if you are a NEW property owner and cannot get a current tax bill/document, then you may bring your mortgage statement or HUD-1 Settlement Statement.
3) Electric, Gas, Water, Cable, or Landline phone bill with the same name and address as the other "proof" documents.
Car registration, pay stub or local, state, or federal correspondence can also be used (also with name and address that match #1 and #2).

Other Tips That Will Make Your Life Easier:
Registration dates and times: August 4-6, 8-1pm
Seniors: Aug 4
Juniors: Aug 5
Sophomores: Aug 6
Freshmen: Aug 7
Make Ups: Aug 11
If you must come to register at 8am, please be prepared for a wait. The registration is run by volunteers and we will do our best to get you through the process efficiently. If you are able to arrive later in the day, your wait will likely be shorter. Please plan to arrive BEFORE 1pm.
What to bring?
1) Plenty of Checks! You will need to write separate checks for the Activity Fee ($45 for all but freshmen who have paid a partial deposit) and the Parking Fee ($25), for PIE Membership, Booster Club Membership, and for school portraits.
2) Back to School Forms: These forms can all be found on our website under the PARENT link at the top. Do not be detered by the form that says "Do Not Purge" (CCSD Student Enrollment Form) This is required. Please print and fill out all forms before coming to registration!! Forms must be filled out for EACH student even if you have 2 AMHS students.
What to expect? Your student will begin by taking the school portrait for ID cards and the yearbook. If your student cannot attend, there will be a make-up day for this during school. Then you will file through the line signing the student contract, getting the schedule of classes, picking up textbooks, and finishing with selecting a parking space.
Parking: Parking spaces will be selected after the registration checklist has been completed. ****Students MAY NOT obtain a parking space without a CURRENT VALID driver's license. BRING YOUR LICENSE TO REGISTRATION!!*****
