THE RAPTOR REPORT
The Student Perspective...
by Jennie Schaaf

Last Friday, AMHS hosted our annual AP Picnic following the last day of AP exams.  This picnic is often the light at the end of the tunnel for all the students who are suddenly faced with remembering an entire year's worth of material for a several hour-long exam.  King of Pops returned this year featuring flavors like Blueberry Lemongrass, Strawberry Lemon, Dreamsicle, and Chocolate Sea Salt.  Just a few minutes into lunch, lines at each of the two popsicle stands stretched back almost to the building, and the vendors quickly sold out of the Strawberry and Chocolate flavors.  The whole student body effectively covered every inch of the path running through the courtyard to avoid the wet grass while some students, who had thought ahead, carried out lawn chairs and towels to sprawl nearby.

The entertainment for the event came from a series of student performances, including a special appearance by Mr. Phillips, a teacher at Magnet, who played his saxophone and sang high harmonies along with Mr. Grimshaw, the guitar teacher.  Although yearbooks were passed out this week instead of at the picnic like usual, the extended lunch was a huge success with many students agreeing that the highlight was seeing Mr. Weart, a beloved member of the Magnet staff and family, get up and outdance everyone else as he enjoyed the music.
