Swimmer Receives Scholarship

Congratulations to Connor Marshall, who recently received the Carolyn Keller Invitational Scholarship. The Carolyn Keller Invitational Scholarship was developed in honor of Carolyn Keller, a swim teacher that inspired students for almost 30 years. The scholarship in her memory is for a swimmer who has participated in one of the Carolyn Keller Invitational Meets that has demonstrated both a love of swimming and servant leadership on her or his team, campus and/or in the community with financial resources to help defray educational expenses. The scholarship is open to two seniors involved in swimming who participate in the Carolyn Keller Invitational Meet.

Connor is pictured with Carolyn Keller's mother and brother in the photo above.

Update on 2014 Spring Break Trip to England, Scotland, & France

We're going to England, France, and Scotland for Spring Break!  If you would like details about the itinerary and cost, go to www.eftours.com  and type in tour #1229635.

Students from any grade are welcome. On this tour, students will gain an understanding of history and culture throughout the ages.  Edinburgh's medieval castle recalls Scotland's royal traditions, while the scenic landscapes of Stratford, Chester, and the Lake District give a glimpse of the rural life.  In London and Paris, students will discover impressive monuments and museums that reflect two world powers.  Our last 2 days will be spent exploring WWII history along the D-Day beaches of Normandy.

If you have questions or would like more information, please let us know.  You can contact us at Mary_Altman@charleston.k12.sc.us or call 810-1291.

Thanks,

Joy Altman, Mary Catherine Lankford, and Tyson McCormick

PIE Update

I'm thrilled that we had such a good turnout at Open House. And we are HUGELY thankful to the wonderful parents who have chosen to donate additional funds to PIE for supporting our incredible school and staff.  Magnet Parents are FANTASTIC!!  Magnet teachers are AMAZING, did you see those pictures? They came up with those poses on their own...no wallflowers at the Magnet!

We are looking forward to being able to share all those pictures and Wish Lists under our PIE tab on the school website. Keep checking for more information!

I appreciate that individuals have let me know they had purchased a defective magnet. We are hoping to get that settled by October.  Let me know if you bought one at registration (they were only actually GIVEN to purchasers on the last day; everyone else has pre-ordered them, and will get GOOD magnets!)

Meanwhile our new TUMBLERS are in!! They will be delivered to your student's homeroom if they were pre ordered and paid for. If you would like to buy them in the future, we will make them available at all PIE events. Starting next week, they will be for sale at the front desk; through our (checks only) and in the bookkeepers' office (for easy student access) as well.

The Oct 2 Mini College Fair is coming together, there is still room for a few more if you would like to have your alma mater represented, email me at amhspie@gmail.com.

The PIE monthly Board meeting will be held today (Thursday) at 4:15 in the conference room behind the front entrance desk. All are welcome to attend. If you have anything you would like to present to the Board in the future, drop me a line. Our meetings are held the third Thursday of each month.

Thanks for everything you do for our school!

Christen Hall, PIE President

The PIE tab on the AMHS web site is under construction; anyone with web site experience is welcome to help us make it better!
