PIE Update |
Partners in Education has great things coming, thanks to the SUPPORT of our generous members! Announcing: "WHAT'S NEXT?" WEDNESDAYS!
A series of in-depth programs to help parents and students with that important decision: what's next after attending the TENTH best HS in the NATION and #1 High School in South Carolina?
The series will begin September 11, and continue through the month of October. Start times will always be 6 pm and most evenings will end by 7:15.
Don't miss the OPEN HOUSE scheduled for 6 pm on Wednesday SEPTEMBER 11 in the CAFETERIA.
Here's what to expect: Most parents leave siblings and Magnet students at home due to time and space constraints; but if you are in a bind, it's not a problem! It's best to arrive by 5:30 so that you can pick up your students' schedule at the tables. These will be separated by GRADE. If you have not done so, you will have a chance to sign up with PIE and have your email address added to the Raptor Report contacts.
After a short meeting at 6 pm we will adjourn and you will have a chance to follow your student's schedule. Each of the teachers will be in their classrooms to give you an overview of the year ahead. The bell will ring quickly, so be prepared to move on and take your seat in the next classroom. This is really the best opportunity you will have to see it all from the inside, and put some faces to the names of our wonderful educators.
"WHAT'S NEXT" for the following WEDNESDAY?
September 18th Renowned Author ELIZABETH WISSNER-GROSS, will be on campus. She will address the student body at Convocation and speak to parents in the CAFETERIA at 6 pm. Ms. Wissner-Gross is an Educational Strategist who helps students create individualized "game-plans" for gaining admission to the country's most competitive colleges. She has appeared on The Today Show and been featured in the New York Times, USA Today and many other publications. She is the author of several books, including WHAT HIGH SCHOOLS DON'T TELL YOU (AND OTHER PARENTS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW). This book will be available to purchase at the event, thanks to Blue Bicycle Books. It will be a fantastic evening, block your calendars now!

PIE Membership and Student Directory
If you haven't signed up for PIE (Partners in Education) and the AMHS Student Directory, you still have time. To be included in the directory, please send in your forms and payment to the school or bring to the Open House. This paperwork will also be available at the PIE table on the night of the Open House. The fee for PIE membership along with a copy of the student directory is $20.00. Extra directories are $5.00 and must be prepaid. The forms can be found on the AMHS website. Click on the Parents tab, and then on the drop down menu, click on Back to School Forms 2013-2014. Students listed in the 2012-13 directory need to submit a new information sheet to remain in the 2013-2014 directory. If the information is the same as last year, check the first box on the form and you're done.
The cut-off date for ordering the directory is September 11th.
