Thank you for the outpouring of time and resources you have devoted to PIE this year to support the academic endeavors of our wonderful school! We have had unprecedented parent participation in our events this year showing that our great AMHS students truly come from great, involved families! Completely fulfilling the Teacher's Wish List for classroom supplies and supporting staff salaries and enrichments for student learning have been among the financial successes for the year.
Please support the incoming executive board next year!

AMHS Girls Varsity Soccer Team wins the 2-A State Championship!
|
On Friday, May 17, the AMHS Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated Christ Church 2-1 to claim the 2-A State Championship at Gilbert High School! Christ Church was first to score in the 26th minute of the first half. At halftime, the score was 1-0 with Christ Church in the lead. The team battled the heat, continued to pressure the ball and never gave up. With 1 minute 49 seconds remaining in regulation, Magnet tied the game with a goal by Kallie Peurifoy. At the end of regulation, the game was tied 1-1. After playing two 10 minute overtime periods and two 5 minute golden goal overtime periods, the match remained at 1-1. After 110 minutes of play, the game was decided in six rounds of penalty kicks. Both teams made all five of their kicks. Taking the PK's for Magnet were Kallie Peurifoy, Jesse Dooley, Marin Miller, Lauren Baldo and Caroline Smith. On the sixth kick, however, Christ Church missed their shot, leaving Magnet with an opportunity to win the match. Maegan Reed, a freshmen defender, nailed her shot in the back of the net, and the team won the championship 2-1!
The team would like to thank the coaching staff, trainers, administration, parents, students and fans who have supported them the entire season. Your support and encouragement are truly appreciated. A special thank you goes out to several players from the boys soccer team who made the trip up for the championship match and the numerous students who were in attendance as well.
For the five seniors on the team, Kallie Peurifoy, Baker Walls, Megan Hunt, Libby Zanin and Rachel DiGiacomo, thank you for the leadership you have provided and the wonderful memories created both on and off the field. You will all be greatly missed, and we wish you the very best upon graduation from AMHS!
