LAST PLEA for TEACHER APPRECIATION HELP!!
|
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SAY TO OUR FACULTY & STAFF
Two times per year we ask for a little help with treats for the teachers. We still need gift cards - to any restaurant, online or walk-in store, movies... Be Creative! If you can donate a $10 gift card for a teacher, please send it in by Friday 4/19 addressed to Mrs. Linnie Duckett (her office is next to Mrs. Peterson's). If we have extras, we will consolidate them into a tiny little goody bag of gift cards!
We still need some food and staples for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, 4/23 at 1:00pm. This is their only "lunch out" of the entire school year and we want it to be special. We have flowers for tables and tablecloths, and will have music as well.
Can you send a delicious food item or even a staple? Drop off is by 12:30pm, please label the item (name of dish, is it vegan or vegetarian?, who made it). Label your container with your name and phone number if you want it back. Gallon and Quart ziploc bags for leftovers 60 cups, 8-12oz, clear or white plastic Unsweet tea, 3 gallons Sweet tea, 2 gallons Hot foods: Meatballs?, Casseroles? Lasagne? Cold foods: Egg salad, tuna salad, fruit salad, potato salad Desserts: Cake, anything... If we have leftovers, we will bag the food up and they can eat it on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: the gift that keeps on giving! Thank you. These teachers deserve a special week!
Thanks, Cammie Camp

You, too, can be PIE President...or Vice President!!!
|
PIE is currently looking for nominees for all elected PIE Offices. While Cheryl Roberts (Secretary), Sharon Beeson (Treasurer), and Brenda Rindge (At Large Member) have all agreed to stay on another year, any PIE member is able to nominate themselves if they would like to be on the ballot for these offices.
The BIG needs are for the PIE President and Vice President. Four out of five of this year's PIE officers work full time outside the home, and I think it's safe to say we had a successful year at PIE, so you can do it, too!
AMHS PIE is special in that we have a huge cadre of active parents and committee chairs, so much of the work of the PIE President is pure delegation to a very competent parent population. PIE meetings are monthly during the school year. The only qualification for being an officer is that you are a member of PIE. You can read the duties for all offices in the PIE Bylaws.
Elections will be via a Raptor Report email in May, with the new officers starting July 1. If you are interested, or want to nominate someone, please contact Nominating Committee Chair Cheryl Roberts at cherllr@aol.com.

A Night in Paris" prom event at the Montague Terrace from 7:30-11:30
| PARENTS - we will not need parents to volunteer to bring food for this years prom, as we had to use the in-house caterers for Montague Terrace.
HOWEVER, we do need plants that we can borrow to decorate with - bushes and trees - fake or real! We will be creating a Paris garden with these plants. We would also like to have some plants to sit in the entrance and up the stairs. The plants can be dropped off at the venue on Saturday, April 27, anytime after 10:00am. We will need to know if your student can collect the plant(s) that evening to return, or if we will need to keep them and have them at school for you to retrieve.
If you can help us by providing plants, please email either Susan Henley susan_henley@charleston.k12.sc.us or Nairobi Orr nairobi_orr@charleston.k12.sc.us .
We couldn't do this without you - thanks in advance for helping to make this prom a night to remember!!!

Student volunteer opportunities
|
If you need more volunteer hours before the end of the school year, be sure to check out the link on the AMHS and PIE websites.
We have gotten positive feedback from several organizations who have been very impressed with their student volunteers.Fields to Families, which helps the hungry in our community gain access to fresh fruits and vegetables, had students pick over 100 pounds of collards at Rosebank Farms last weekend. There are additional gleanings of winter crops this Saturday, but you must complete a volunteer form from their website at fieldstofamilies.org.
Rein and Shine, a therapeutic riding organization, also thanked us for the hard work of several students at their barn in Awendaw.
Please forward any information about volunteer opportunities to Sarah Winters at tswinters@hotmail.com.

Looking for a way to get involved at AMHS?
Do you ...enjoy writing? ...enjoy making new friends? ...like to stay abreast on what's going on at the school? ...want to be involved at AMHS, but need to participate from home with flexible hours instead of being at the school? THEN CONSIDER BECOMING THE NEXT EDITOR OF THE RAPTOR REPORT.My tenure as editor for the Raptor Report will be coming to an end with the conclusion of this school year, so I am recruiting the next editor now in order to have a seamless transition to next year. NO special qualifications are needed. If you are familiar with Constant Contact email service, then the turnover will be quick. If your not familiar with the service, I'll be happy to teach you how to use Constant Contact; IT IS VERY EASY TO LEARN!! If you are interested, please email me at rhonda.hunter8590@gmail.com. The editor is part of the PIE board as a non-elected position, so attending board meetings once a month (approximately 1 hour each) is the only duty that requires being at the school. Most if not all of the weekly duties are easily handled via email.
