Principal Points: Bus Strike Update
| Thank you all for your patience and support as we await any bus strike information or action. At the school we have taken a few key steps should a strike occur.
- We have contact numbers for every student. These numbers were provided by the students in their homeroom classes.
- We have information from each student as to how they will return home should a strike be called during the school day.
- We have a dismissal plan that will release students in groups (everyday car riders, after school sports teams, student drivers, academic/arts practices) and hold remaining students in their homerooms until their "ride" home arrives.
- We will have multiple faculty and administrators with walkie-talkies identifying students' rides and calling for the student.
- We will have additional administration and faculty outside helping move traffic smoothly along the same pattern we have been using.
- I expect addition NCPD assistance in moving traffic at peak travel times.
If a strike should occur, there will be many more cars on all Charleston roads, so we are urging parents to arrange car pools for transportation to and from school. AMHS will open with adult supervision at 7:00 AM and remain open until 6:00 PM in an effort to accommodate work schedules. If there are any specific transportation needs we can help with, please call us at 746-1300.
