THANK YOU!

We can't say it enough! Your time, your leadership, and your personal investment in girls are a few of the reasons Girl Scouting in Gateway Council thrives.

Not only are volunteers, families, and girls our major resource, so is funding.

Your gifts to the SHARE campaign help pay for volunteer recruitment, training and support; your gift helps maintain camps and facilities and provide the assurance that we are giving girls outstanding leadership experiences.

Make YOUR gift now.
It matters.

A girl and her family are counting on you!

WHAT YOUR
GIFT WILL DO

$15 will pay for Chef Certification for one adult volunteer so that girls will enjoy their camping experiences.

$35 makes leader resources available which will enrich girl leadership experiences.

$45 will make girls safe by training one adult volunteer in First Aid/CPR.

$85 will certify one lifeguard so more girls have access to swimming and aquatics

Early Bird Success!

Congratulations to all of you who renewed your membership during the Early Bird campaign! Troop Leaders will receive a patch for each girl that registered during Early Bird and a patch for each girl registered online. This year 3,063 girls and 1,122 adults renewed during Early Bird - an increase of more than 7% over last year. Equally exciting is that 95% of Early Bird renewals were completed online!

Six Service Units exceeded 40% girl and adult renewal- Carolina Hills, Manatee, Columbia, Black Creek, Baker Trails and Cross Roads Creek.  Great job!

The following Early Bird troops have been drawn at random and will receive a $50 gift certificate that can be used in the Council Store, for Council program or properties.

Troop 466            Mandarin Meadows
Troop581             Indian Creek
Troop 603            Putnam

Girls - Take the World Water Monitoring
Challenge on National Public Lands Day, Get a FREE Water Test Kit

For the fifth consecutive year, World Water Monitoring Challenge (WWMC) is partnering with National Public Lands Day (NPLD) to encourage water monitoring on U.S. public lands.  WWMC has reserved 100 basic water quality test kits for FREE distribution to groups that participate in both WWMC and NPLD in 2013 (one kit per group).

NPLD is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. The program's 20th anniversary will be held on Saturday, September 28.  WWMC is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies.

Quick Start for Daisy Troop Leaders

Girl Scout troops have always been a special part of girls' lives in kindergarten and elementary school. What makes the experience so fun and exciting? How many times they get together? The number of badges they earn? The number of trips they take or crafts they make?

The answer? None of the above!

Here's what's special about troops: They offer girls the power and joy of teaming up, trying new things, creating their own adventures-all while making the world a better place. Based on 100 years of organizing troops, Girl Scouts of the USA has identified 10 "essential elements" for creating a high-quality and fun-filled experience for girls. Check out the online toolkit of resources today!

Thank you for volunteering to help girls lead in their daily lives, in their communities, and in the world that opens up before them as they grow!

 Five Star
Are You a Five Star Troop?

You may be well on your way to achieving Five Star status and don't even realize it. The Five Star Troop award ensures a well rounded Girl Scout program and recognizes the planning and organizing that goes into high-quality troop program. Upon successful completion of the requirements, each member of the troop will be eligible for the Five Star Troop patch, available from The Girl Scout Store while supplies last. Congrats to our Five Star Troops!
