exploring the harmony of your life

Letter From Laura BACK TO SCHOOL TIME = SELF-CARE TIME FOR ADULTS Phew! We've made it through the summer - those glorious long days of outdoor activity, and staying up later to get the most out of this active time of year. Our tendency in the warm weather can be to focus outside of our selves, living a more yang or energetic lifestyle. As the season shifts to Autumn and we find ourselves becoming more introspective, it is a good time to renew our commitment to self-care. This month at balance we're providing some nice opportunities to embrace holistic wellness, and to work on the body, mind and spirit. Take the time to treat yourself to some of the new-to-you, yet ancient offerings at balance. In other news: - Wednesday-morning Gentle Yoga has returned! I've missed my Wednesday morning Yogis and am excited to be back in the "bend" of things. Thanks to all for being flexible with my summer schedule. See below for the complete Yoga @ Balance slate.
- Ric and I are thrilled to have two new practitioners join the balance family. Come on in and say hello!

Introducing...
JENNIFER LONG, LMT
A New York State-licensed massage therapist and aesthetician, Jennifer brings experience, knowledge, professionalism and intuitiveness to her work. She comes to Balance after a nine-year tenure at the Mirbeau Inn and Spa in Skaneateles, NY, where she provided massage and skin care treatments. Jennifer's passion is helping people to look, feel and be truly healthy; and her mission is to help people make better wellness choices - including natural and organic skin and body care and healthy daily well practices - that create healthier people and a healthier planet.
DAN DOMINGUEZ, L.AC.
Dan will be a familiar face to many Balance visitors: He has worked at the front desk for the past few years, while completing his studies at the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, specializing in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Dan is now a nationally certified and licensed acupuncturist. He studied Exercise Science and Physiology with a minor in Strength and Conditioning at Saginaw Valley State University, where he graduated with honors. Using techniques including Acupuncture, Tui Na (Chinese medical massage), Cupping, Gua Sha, and Kinesio taping, Dan integrates traditional Chinese Acupuncture with Orthopedics, Anatomy and Sports Medicine practices. His primary focus is on the treatment of chronic and acute injuries, by working with patients to accurately and efficiently identifying their unique needs and collaborating to create a suitable personalized treatment plan.

Yoga @ Balance
GENTLE YOGA
With Laura Chey-Warren: Wednesdays, 9 - 10:00am
With Nora Doebrich: Saturdays, 9:15 - 10:15am
It's back! This gentle class is designed to help you create breath awareness, learn basic yoga poses, and increase flexibility and relaxation. It's a great class if you are new to yoga, or looking for a class with a more relaxed pace.
OPEN LEVEL VINYASA
Nora Doebrich
Tuesdays, 7 - 8pm
Saturdays, 10:30 - 11:30am
In these classes, we link a series of poses together using our breath and participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, depending on fitness levels and individual needs. Modifications for beginners and special challenges for more advanced yogis can be added to each flow series, in an effort to meet the needs of all individuals in the class.
PRENATAL YOGA
Nora Doebrich
Tuesdays, 5:45 - 6:45 pm
Fridays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm
Prenatal yoga classes focus on offering mothers-to-be a quiet place to turn their focus inward and bond with their child, while strengthening their bodies and utilizing the breath to prepare for birth. These classes also provide a time for women to be comfortable with the changes in their bodies throughout pregnancy, and bond with other women who are pregnant. Available modifications and challenges to each pose make these classes equally appropriate for women who have prior yoga experience, as well as those who have never tried yoga before.
YOGA RATES
Unless otherwise noted:
5 classes $55
7 classes $70
10 classes $95
Single class (drop-in) $12
