CRI Safety Contest Winners
Top Three Safety Ideas
| We appreciate all the fantastic ideas that were submitted on how to improve safety here at the boathouse and on the river. With 19 entries in all, we had some excellent suggestions.
Here are the winning entries:
Bow/Stern Lights - Replace the batteries in the CRI boat lights on a regular (monthly?) schedule Thank you Bob Green!
Dock Lights - LED lights on the dock! Thank you Cassia Wyner
Guiding Coxswains - have coaches shine lights from their launches on the river to guide coxswains downstream (or upstream, but downstream is so much harder in the dark) when rowing in dark mornings or evenings ... Thank you Maria Sacchetti
We have already replaced all the batteries in the front desk bow/stern lights, and set up a schedule to do so on a regular basis to keep the lights bright. Dock lights will be on our to-do list, as will suggesting coaches aid coxswains with shining lights to assist them in navigating when dark.

HOCR Requesting Volunteers
|
It is that time of year again already. Entries are posted, and the HOCR office has a list of international rowers who need a place to stay. The current list involves several Olympians, including many medallists, as well as some coaches and some athletes not yet to Olympic standard.
Rowers will generally arrive Tuesday the 18th or Wednesday the 19th of October, and leave Sunday or Monday. We are only requesting that you provide a room, and anything in the way of food is really up to what your comfort level is.
Athletes will not have cars, so houses walking distance to the course or the T (bus or subway) are particularly needed.
If you have a room or spaces and would like to host a rower or two for a few days, please get in touch with Michelle Jaeger via email at mjaegs@gmail.com.
Best,
Michelle Jaeger & Anne Buckingham HOCR International Housing
