Volunteers! We need help with Corporate Rowing!

This Week we still need help with the Permira Advisors Event on Thursday afternoon from 1pm - 5pm!
Patrick Larcom and Jeff Nelson are bringing in more and more corporate rowing events every day and we need your help to show the world how the Sport of Rowing can change lives!  Our mission is "Rowing For All" and you can help us spread our mission to the business community by helping out with all of our corporate rowing events.  To make things easy, we are going to use one link to SignUp Genius where you will find tabs to sign up for different events.  If you have any questions please email

For Thursday, 5/12/16, We Need:
7 Coxswains/Volunteers
1:00pm - 5:00pm

If you're available and can help us out please use the link below to sign up!

Also, if you have college kids home and you need some place to send them... Have them signup and volunteer at CRI!

We will feed you with awesome food, give you a cool high-vis t-shirt, and provide you with 4 volunteer hours.  (Coxswains have the option of receiving pay instead of volunteer hours, just let us know)

Corporate Rowing - Army Crew Case Study
Thank You to All

Community Rowing hosted its first Army Crew Team Case Study discussion last Week. We had a group of 32 from KPMG Holland in town for an event all day Monday. Wayne Berger kicked off the session in the morning with an introduction to the Harvard Business School case study on the Army Crew team. The group worked in teams all day to produce a final presentation on their findings and then they embarked on a team building row in the afternoon just in time for the rain to stop. They followed up their experience with tea, beer and coffee under the tent while their trip leader de-briefed them on the days accomplishments.

The Army Crew Team Case Study is just one of a few new programs that CRI launched this spring for corporate clients.  It combines the team discussion of a great case study with an on the water application of teambuilding. Check out more new programs here http://communityrowing.org/team-building/

As usual, we could not have pulled this event off without the help of our wonderful community of volunteers. We had a great crew on hand to cox and help with the dock setup; Emily Dwyer, Phillip Fontana, Paul Flack, Angela Healy and Nadia Shalaby.  We also had some General Sweeps rowers who were brave enough to join us at the last minute on Monday to make sure we got our guests on the water: Vickery KehlenbeckMartha MaguireLoretta AttardoSarah PedersenAlan Mclellan

Thanks to all,
Jeff Nelson

Parking at CRI
Busy Time Parking Alternatives

The weather has gotten nice, and people are doing lots of rowing which is fantastic. All that rowing
is bringing lots of folks to the boathouse, and at certain times, the parking lot is over crowded.

Some important notes:

NO PARKING IN THE FIRE LANE - Cars may be towed
It is illegal to park in the fire lane. Cars that are parked in the fire lane are at risk of being towed by
the state.

PARKING ALTERNATIVES -
  • North Beacon street: on street parking is available along North Beacon, with a short walk back over the bridge
  • The old DCR public swimming pool parking lot at the North Beacon rotary.
  • The hockey rink
