Facilities Survey
Results & Next Steps
|

Thank you all for participating in CRI's 2016 facility survey. The responses were very productive and informative. CRI is already underway on some of the proposed changes! In order to maintain our amazing facility, CRI will need to work with the membership to institute and implement some new cultural changes. We are seeking members and staff to join a focus group to review the survey data and help draft new culture policies for CRI. Equal representation is important...coaches, athletes (youth/adult) and faculty are all welcome to participate.
The proposed group will meet 4 times over the course of 1 month and draft a series of possible changes around the grounds, facilities and equipment. Following the completion of the FOCUS Group's work I propose that the entire CRI membership vote on the changes they wish to implement.
Any individual interested in being apart of the FOCUS Group please reach out to David Snowdon at dave@communityrowing.org.
I would like to get this ball rolling and ideally have the first meeting during the week/weekend of March 7th
Thanks, Dave

February Indoor Military Challenge
CRI Military Team Tops the List
|
CRI Military Team Captures the Gold!
For the first time ever, our CRI Military Team has captured the gold in the annual February Indoor Military Challenge. Competing against over 100 military teams comprising nearly 1000 rowers worldwide, CRI beat the perennial No. 1 team, the USN Vets, by over 4 million meters! Our team was made up of active duty military and veterans from all services across the globe. Team members were from the Boston area, across the U.S. and even Switzerland, and this year included six of our nuclear aircraft carriers, the spectacular leader being the USS Truman, currently serving for us on the front line out in the Arabian Gulf. We were honored to have all of the carriers enjoy the competition and provide such marvelous support to our team. Congratulations to all on an impressive win!

Sandbar
Dredging Update
|
We are happy to let folks know that the dredging of the sandbar which began a few weeks ago is coming to a close. The sand that formed the sandbar has been cleared. Once the remaining dredging equipment has been removed, by end of day tomorrow, work in the river will be complete.
The dredging removed sand (mostly from the road) which built up over time. Removal of the sand which created a shoal will lead to improved water quality and navigation in that section of the river. The sand and debris removed from the river has been deposited into special enclosures at the Herter Park parking lot where it will drain. Once dewatered the sand will be trucked away.
