CIC Innovation Row-A-Thon
CRI Business Team
|
Last Wednesday, February 10th, from 8am to 5pm the CRI Business Team hosted its first engagement of 2016 at the Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall Square. Tech Companies from both CIC and the surrounding area spent time learning to row and competing to accumulate the most meters in 20min as a team. Each team had a blast learning proper technique and how to row together as a team at the same stroke rating. The grand prize was a free entry into the 2016 Charles River Rowing League, which was won by Team Impact Hub Boston. They had a team of 14 members that rowed a total of 44,900 meters. Here is a summary of the event:
# of Ergs: 16 # of Sessions: 12 # of Volunteers: 3 # of Coaches: 5 # of Participants: 65 # of Meters Rowed: 205,578
Thank you to the CRI Corporate Coaches and Volunteers who made the event a success and spread rowing to the Kendall Square community: Anna Harris, Kelsea Gusk, Andrew Voorhees, George Munger, Coree Naslund, Rebecca Schofield, Eleanor Horton, and Andrew Milia. Great work everyone!

Dredging of the Sandbar
Work Has Begun
|
We are happy to let folks know the exciting news that work to dredge the sandbar at the Faneuil Brook Outfall (the area of the Charles across from the Charles River Motel) has begun. After a brief pause in work, dredging will begin again on Thursday. It is hoped the the work of removing the sandbar will be complete in the next week or so.
The dredging will remove sand (mostly from the road) which has built up over time. Removal of the sand which has created a shoal will lead to improved water quality and navigation in that section of the river. The sand and debris removed from the river will be deposited to special enclosures at the Herter Park parking lot where it will drain. Once dewatered the sand will be trucked away.

With this new year the CRI facility team is already underway on a number of facility wide organizational renovations. We believe with your input we can collectively create a more enjoyable and efficient boathouse.
