Monthly Coaching Education Series
Tuesday, January 19th, 6:45-8:15pm
Tufts University
Men's Rowing Head Coach/ Boathouse Manager

Community Rowing, Inc.
Director of Facilities/Boatman

We are excited to announce a refreshed presentation format for our January Symposium! We will host a Round Table discussion (rather than a formal presentation) with a two-person, expert panel discussing the subject of rigging for sweep rowing. We will engage and learn from one another through our energetic discussion and expert led discussion.

All New Round Table Format!

BLADES, RIGGING & GEARING FOR OPTIMAL BOAT SPEED:
Advanced Rigging Methods

We will examine optimal rigging using these guiding questions:
  • After the boat is rigged square (spreads, pitches) what do I change next?
  • Can I perform a test to discover my crew's optimal gearing?
  • How do I know it's a rower problem or rigging problem?
  • How do I confirm that my rigging adjustments are effective for my crew?
  • When observing my crews, what should I look at to determine if the rig is effective or ineffective?
  • Should my less skilled crews be rigged the same as my fastest, most-skilled?
