CRI's 8th Annual Headless Halloween Regatta
November 7th

Hi Everyone....... It's almost time for CRI's 8th Annual Headless Halloween Regatta on Saturday, November 7th at the CRI docks!! Wear your costume, ready to race - open to all rowers, the entire CRI community and friends. It truly is "Rowing for All"!!

The race course START is at the HOCR finish line with the FINISH at the middle sweep dock right in front of CRI.  Race meeting at 8:30am, first boats launch at 8:35am, with the first race set to begin at 9am.  Everyone is invited to participate - beginners, advanced, adaptive, veterans, tubbies, b-boats, singles, doubles, quads, 4's, or 8's. Bow numbers will be provided onsite, which you have to promise to return!

All you need to enter is to be in costume and bring something to eat or drink at the post race brunch and awards ceremony. There will be several race categories and lots of prizes including Best Costume, Most Awkward to Row In, and Most Creative as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each race (with medals for all winners!!). The costumes in past years have been quite impressive, so time to get creative!!

To sign up, email us your name, age and CRI boat choice or if you are in a private boat. [If you plan to use a CRI boat, please also submit a request form to Yael Mito at yaelmitocri@gmail.com,
who will be coordinating boats for this regatta, but not until after Head of the Charles, so please be patient.]

And here's an opportunity to add some volunteer hours.  Email us if you can help in one of the following areas. We are looking for:
  • a couple people to help set up buoys early in the morning and then pick them up after the race
  • a launch driver
  • a couple of assistant timers
  • a few dock hands to help with launching the boats quickly
  • a couple people to set up and take down the brunch
Thank you, Marion and Laura, Sculling Co-Captains

Row2Syria
Raising Awareness

Dear CRI Members,

I am a former competitive varsity youth rower at CRI and I am currently studying in Germany.

On November 14 and 15, 2015, my rowing team at Jacobs University (where I study) will host a benefit event called 'Row2Syria' in order to raise awareness and funds to support Syrian refugees.

The Refugee Crisis that currently has a large impact on Europe is a topic that Jacobs students are confronted with on a daily basis. A Syrian who came to Germany himself two years ago to study at Jacobs and who is a fellow team mate contributed significantly to the inspiration behind this event.

More than 40 athletes from Jacobs University and rowing clubs around Bremen will take turns in rowing on ergometers for 24 hours in order to cover 3078 kilometers - the distance that separates Bremen from Damascus, Syria. This effort will be broadcasted live on our website www.row2syria.com. However, rowers from all around the world can row in solidarity of the event. Once they submit their kilometers erged on the row2syria website they will appear on global  heat map, which will help demonstrate the international outreach this event. As a former CRI rower I was always inspired by the many ways CRI reached out the rowing community through programs like Para rowing and Row Boston, and was hoping that CRI would be kind enough to help us out in some way as well to bring awareness to our cause.

We would be more than pleased to have any kind of support, for instance in the form social media outreach and having rowers log meters in solidarity on the day of the event.

I would happily answer your questions at vincentjeroschherold@gmail.com

I would like to express our appreciation for your time and hope that you will consider supporting our cause.

Best regards,

Vincent Jerosch-Herold and the Row2Syria Team
