The CRI Fall Classic is this Saturday. The weather is looking to be fantastic, the perfect setting for racing, food trucks, live music and enjoying the company of fellow members, neighbors and friends.
We invite all our members to join in the festivities and to join together to run this community event. CRI's Fall Classic Regatta is an awesome chance to volunteer and enjoy CRI and the boathouse when it comes alive with activity. Rowers, parents of rowers and friends are all welcome to help.

| Brighton Bangers 5k
An Invitation to CRI Members
Join the fun of this great 5k run the morning of the CRI Fall Classic Regatta!

Community Rowing members get a 17 percent discount on entry fees for the Brighton Bangers 5K, which starts and ends at the Harry Parker Boathouse at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19. There's great company, a fun 5K on a shaded riverside course, recovery snacks from Wegman's, Whole Foods, and Essentia Water, food-truck food, and, of course, free beer and four live bands all day, plus a rowing regatta. Rowing that day? The 5K is a great way to warm up. You also get an event T-shirt and a great swag bag. There are prizes for the top teams (start a team!) and the top men and women finishers. Proceeds benefit CRI's In the Same Boat program for military veterans; last year, the race raised $2,000 for this great cause. To get the 17 percent ($6) discount, enter the coupon code "CRI."

Congratulations to our wonderful volunteers who helped us pull off two incredible events this past week. It is only with the help of our volunteers that we can deliver such a great experience to our corporate Team building clients. On Thursday the 10th, EMD Serono, a Biopharmaceutical research and development company had 30 of their employees come to CRI for their team building event. Our volunteers rose to the occasion of helping prepare equipment and the boathouse for their visit. The volunteers filled in as coxswains, rowers and also helped rowers on the docks. The group thoroughly enjoyed their experience with us. Our coaches had them on the ergs learning the basics and then rowing very quickly in 8+s on the water. The racing at the end of the session was intense and overall the group was very happy. Their CEO, Andreas Goutopoulos could not have been more happy with the event by saying, "what says team building more than rowing?". On Sunday the 13th we hosted one of our largest corporate team building events for Experian. They had 85 employees from England visit CRI for their team building event as an incentive program award for their top salespeople. Our volunteers were instrumental in getting equipment prepped and ready to row, setting up the tent with snacks and coffee, prepping the erg room, an many other details to welcome our guests. The amount of work and the attention to detail our volunteers put into this event was unprecedented. We had rowers on every erg in our community room to start off and then had eight 8+s on the water for rowing. The feedback from Experian, from the CEO on down to all employees was outstanding. They were very pleased to have been part of our community for a day. Their experience at CRI was the highlight of their New England trip, and the corporate event planner was so happy that we were able to help provide such a great experience to cap off their New England visit. All of the participants had nothing but praise for our volunteers, coaches and community. They were so happy to have spent the morning with CRI. Thanks again to all of the volunteers who made that event so exceptional. On September 15th, Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT New England) had their mentor program event at CRI. They filled two barges with eager learners after starting off in the community room on ergs. Our volunteers were again essential in helping us prepare the barges by pumping and cleaning and setting up the oars and seats. We also had volunteers row and cox for the teams. Once again, those volunteers made the event a success. The WICT group was so happy to have had their team building experience with CRI to make their event exceptional. We can't say enough about all of the volunteers that helped us pull off these events this week. We couldn't do this without you.

CRI has participated in the Allston Brighton Parade for over 15 years. Let's continue the CRI tradition and create the most amazing float in this year's parade.
In past parades, other participants have included marching bands from Boston College, Boston University and Salem High School, Harvard University Cheerleaders, WGBH, Oak Sq. YMCA, Brighton High School JROTC,elected officials and the Mayor of Boston to name a few.
Are you creative, a visionary, enthusiastic about spreading your CRI love for rowing, always wanted to be in a parade? Come help us design a float for CRI. Join the fun. We need you, lots of you!
Whether you have a creative idea, can bring tools or just want to be an athlete or coach on the float please join us. We will have a 2015 Parade Kick Off Meeting in the first week of September. Be a part of it!

With the fall season upon us, we continue to see unprecedented success with CRI's corporate programs. This allows us some very unique volunteering opportunities for weekends, weekday mornings and midday events. The main ingredient that makes these programs successful is our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers allow our corporate clients an excellent experience as they are exposed to the sport of rowing. Please review our schedule below and volunteer today to be a part of CRI's corporateteam building experience this fall.
We have many more events in the works throughout the end of the rowing season, so stay tuned for more opportunities as well.
Special Note: We work closely with Kane and the coaches to make sure that regular programming is not impacted. These programs keep CRI's veterans, para-rowing, and Let's Row Kids on the water and ergs year round.

Please accept our invitation to join us and take part in the First US Coastal Rowing Regatta, on Nov. 07 - 08, 2015 in Pensacola, FLORIDA.
We invite you to become a part of history that will be made with this regatta in the US Rowing The races will be held at the PENSACOLA BEACH in Pensacola, FLORIDA. Come and experience extremely exiting races by rowing or standing on the best beaches in USA. The Organizing committee will provide all the necessary equipment for the regatta and impeccable services for all participants, spectators and visitors. Uniquely designed medals will be awarded to first, second and third places finishers. There will be races for any level rowers, any age category and any group of rowers. Come and build the tradition of Coastal Rowing in USA.

The Head of the Charles 2015 is coming up fast, and your opportunity to help show
the rowing community's welcoming side is here with it. International rowers are coming to
compete, and looking for housing with local families.
The HOCR organization is a big supporter of CRI, and any help in providing housing for athletes who come from so far away to row here on the Charles would be appreciated.Can you possibly assist?
Some answers to frequently asked questions:
1. Accommodation is for athletes and coaches only.
2. Most people offer to host one or two rowers, although more is fine.
3. While rowers would generally be here a few days longer than just race days to adjust
to time zones and acquaint themselves with the course, it is not expected they would arrive
before Wednesday, October 14th nor stay past Monday, October 19th.
4. The general preference of the rowers is to be grouped close to people in their boat
(if any), and to be close to the river or public transport.

as we are already getting requests for housing! We can also answer any questions you

The contractor will be moving the barrel closure at the Anderson Bridge from the Boston barrel to the center barrel on Tuesday the 8th. Please notify the boating community of the pending change.
Fall Calendar
LABOR DAY ROWING TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE. Monday, September 7. The traffic pattern in the Powerhouse changes
(*) Powerhouse Stretch / Western Ave. and River Street Bridges: This area is used heavily by crews racing side-by-side, for high school and club races, and seat racing. Racing crews and scullers have right of way in this stretch. All crews and scullers, upstream and downstream, must use the right-hand arches of both bridges, going single file if not racing. The center arches are two-way to accommodate racing, with one boat in the right-hand arch, and the other to the right-hand side of the center arch. (*) Racing crews and scullers are only allowed to use the center arches if the right hand arches are concurrently used, and preferrably with a coach. From Labor Day through Thanksgiving, from 5 am until 1 pm, the center arches of Western and River street bridges are upstream only, to accommodate crews and scullers training for the Head of the Charles regatta. In the afternoon, the center arches resume being bi-directional. April 2010 Charles River Rowing Traffic Pattern Note that both ends of the race course cross just onto the wrong side of the river. Crews turning shall proceed well into the corners at the Weeks Footbridge (Cambridge) and the Railroad Tracks (Boston), being alert for and notifying approaching crews. Coaches are urged to choose their time openings carefully and proceed expeditiously
