CRI Boathouse - Architect Alex Anmahian
All are Welcome! Join us Tonight, July 28 at 6pm
The Awarding Winning Harry Parker Boathouse

Did you know the CRI Boathouse is an architecturally beautiful building? It is a Harleston Parker Medal winner, an honor bestowed by the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) each year for the most beautiful building or structure built in Greater Boston in the past ten years.

We invite you to join us for a reception on TuesdayJuly 28 at 6pm to hear from Alex Anmahian AIA of Anmahian Winton Architects who will give a short tour and to learn about the BSA Foundation, a sister organization to the Boston Society of Architects.(http://www.architects.org/foundation)

The BSA Foundation supports activities that illuminate the ways that design improves the quality of our lives. You'll hear stories about how Foundation programs, and the power of design, are positively changing the lives of real people.

Parking Lot Heads Up
Wed 7/29 - Fri 7/31

A crew filming a television commercial will be working here at the boathouse beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29th and will be here through Friday, July 31st.

Film crew trucks will be parked on the gravel at the West end of the main bay. They will be using the dock at that end of the boathouse as well.

Most of the folks working on the crew will park at the rink, but they will also park in the CRI lot using the spots that run along Nonantum.

Please plan ahead as parking will be a bit more limited than usual, and be watchful both in the parking lot and on the river over these next few busy days at the boathouse.

Thank you.

Corporate Team Building
Compliments from Our Visitors

IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD, CRI's corporate team building events have our clients raving about what an excellent time they've had.

This past week was no exception. On Monday evening we had a group of 24 from Abiomed, then on Thursday afternoon we hosted a group of 32 from Hemenway & Barns followed by 35 from DePuy Synthes on Thursday evening.  Thanks to all the great volunteers and coaches who made those events special.  We had great volunteer help from; Debbie Grinnell, Irene Wong, Shannon Flynn, Elizabeth St. Brice, Beth Yudelman, Danielle Valle-Fitzgerald, Alejandro Chavez, Sarah Quraishi, Bridget Bettigole, Carol Krauss, Halle Alitz, Helen Stefan, Kelly Kassa, and Meagan Lew.  Without your help we could not have pulled of successful back to back events.

The quotes below are from last week's corporate clients and came to us unsolicited.

"Thanks so much - we had a blast! I think this was the most favored event yet for our group." Charlotte Gallagher, Marketing Project Manager, ABIOMED, Inc.

"the group had a fantastic time. Your team made the planning of this event go flawlessly, and you answered all of our questions in the planning which made us feel very comfortable with trying something new." Laura Caruso, Manager Company Meetings, DePuy Synthes

"Our group had a fantastic time and had such wonderful comments about their coaches. I have a feeling a few may try rowing again. Please make sure to let all the Coaches know that they contributed to such a memorable night for this group." Moira Calia, Senior Meeting Planner, DePuy Synthes.

"Thanks again for a wonderful night", Lara Silberklang, Hemenway & Barns

"We had a ball. It was all really well done." Kurt Somerville, Hemenway & Barns

The last client note is so good, I have to share the whole thing as there are too many great sentences to quote.  It tells the whole story behind what CRI does best.

Thank you for the wonderful experience we had introducing Hemenway & Barnes to crew and Community Rowing. You all were welcoming and gracious, and supremely organized. Everyone is raving this morning about how much fun they had...not to mention a few sore muscles.

Many of us were impressed by the para rowing program you offer and your wide community outreach. Congratulations on providing such healthy exercise and riverside beauty of nature to so many people. Your message for corporate outings is right on target - we all row faster and further when we pull together.

Our team is asking for a repeat visit - we hope to see you again! On behalf of all of us, kudos for the perfect corporate event.

Best regards,

Sally

CRAB ALERT!
Anderson Bridge Traffic Pattern Change

 Anderson Bridge:

Wed July 29

Center Arch Reopens/Boston Arch Closing

Message from CRAB:

The good people at the State have informed us that the Center Arch of Anderson will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29th and the Boston Arch will close. This could mean that the change will occur prior to morning rowing hours or after.  Bottom line, turn around and take a good look.

This means a change in the rowing traffic pattern.
  • Center Arch will be used for downstream traffic only! while watching out for powerboaters who use the center arch bi-directionally.
  • Cambridge Arch will be used for upstream traffic only (as usual).
Please be sure that everyone in your group is aware of this change.  If you see someone headed for the wrong arch, give a shout.

1. Eyes open for filming, next three days

There will be a filming on the river over the next three days that may utilize barges.  Please keep your eyes open as times and locations are unclear.

2. Dock Repair Continues at Riverside and NU

Riverside Boat Club continues its dock work.  Be prepared for long lines waiting to land at the dock due to its shortened size, so everyone use caution on that corner.  If heading downstream, stay well to your side to allow room for upstream traffic to steer clear.
NU is also under construction.  Watch out for the barge.
