Corporate Challenge Cup
Win it for Your Company

Want to win the Corporate Challenge Cup for your company?  You can do so through the Charles River Rowing League which got off to a great start this week.  For the first week, the coaches were busy getting their boats organized and getting the new rowers comfortable with their rowing stroke on the ergs.  Each CRRL group spent the first session on the ergs and touring the boathouse and getting their first water strokes in with the Dockbox.  Week two will be on the water in the rowing catamarans, then Week three and beyond  will be launching in 8+s.  If you see these CRRL participants out there, please give them your encouragement, they are all very excited to learn to row.

This year, Charles River Rowing League will run in 3 sessions throughout the year.

  • Session 2 starts the week of June 30th
  • Session 3 starts the week of August 11th

If you know any individuals or company's interested in putting together a corporate team, have them reach out to Jeff Nelson at:  jeff.nelson@commmunityrowing.org

Once again, this year, all CRRL participants will be eligible to race for the corporate challenge cup at the CRI Fall Classic Regatta on September 19th.

Want to Make History?
Nike Team Building Event Volunteers Needed

Want to make history?  CRI has been awarded the unique honor of hosting Nike Corporation's leadership team for their annual team building event.  We will be making history as this will be the MOST EXCITING team building event held, EVER!  We will be working with 120 Nike employees in seventeen CRI 8+s, at the Esplanade in the lower basin, June 23rd, at 6:00am.

The size of this event will require all of our resources to transform Nike employees into rowing fans by sharing with them the best corporate rowing experience CRI can create. This unique event will require over 100 volunteers over 2 days - our goal is to create a powerful experience while also having minimal impact on our regular CRI programming. Volunteer opportunities will be available exclusively to CRI rowers until May 26th. After May 26th, we will open up volunteer opportunities to the larger Charles River rowing community.

Please chose a volunteering option now so we may all make history together and bring Nike into the rowing world. Check the links below for volunteer sign up choices.

Host a National Team Hopeful...
Rooms Needed for Rowers

Dear CRI Families,

Team USA needs you! As you may have heard, CRI will be hosting the Lightweight 8 Selection Camp this summer. In order to field the best possible boat we have reached out to athletes from across the country, many of whom will be in need of housing for selection camp (May 27th-June 19th) and potentially through World Championship training (July 5th-August 15th).

Athletes would provide their own food and transportation, they are simply looking for a place to sleep at night and rest between practices. If you have or know of any available space, please reach out to Bryan Pape at bpape86@gmail.com

Whether you have room for one or for many, are within biking or driving distance, or have any times during the summer when your space will be unavailable, please let us know.

Thank you for your support. Go CRI, and go Team USA!

Reserving New HUDSONS
All Boats Must Be Logged Out For Each Row

The new boats have been arriving, and as soon as they are rigged, we have been entering them into the iRowNow system.

Please remember to follow the usual procedures for rowing/checking out boats whether old or new.
  • Log out ALL small boats prior to each row
  • Do not row a boat that is not shown as available to you even if you see it on the rack
  • Boats on the rack, but not available to check out, may be reserved for another rower or program
  • To see status of a boat, view 'boat usage'
  • The main page on iRowNow will also state if boats are blocked for a particular program or race, and therefore unavailable
  • Always be sure to log boats back in, or 'close prior', so the boat you have rowed will then be available for someone else.
  • If you have difficulty, or think a boat should be available but isn't please contact nonna@communityrowing.org or yael.mito@communityrowing.org

Unreported Damage to a New Hudson
Protocol & Responsibility for All Members/Rowers
Recently, one of our new HUDSONs was found to be damaged. No documentation or reporting of the damage was submitted in the repair log or to Dave Snowdon.

Any damage to boats or equipment is always to be recorded in the repair log immediately when damage has occurred or been discovered. Checking the condition of boats prior to and following a row is expected every time a boat is used - whether having been rowed, loaded or unloaded, rigged or de-rigged. As a club, it is our responsibility as a group of rowers to care for our equipment and to follow expected procedures.

Any future instance of unrecorded/undocumented damage to a boat will result in a club-wide day-off-the-water with all programs focusing on boat handling and care.

Please share in taking excellent care of our incredible new fleet of boats!
Thank you.
