Spring Party & Auction
Wow! What a Party!
|
Thanks to everyone that donated to, bid at, volunteered or came to Saturday night's Spring Party and Benefit Auction here at CRI. What a magical night of Community, friendship and fun!
CRI experimented with a new mobile bidding platform, eliminating the silent auction bid sheets and putting all silent auction items up for grabs through the click of a smartphone.
Proceeds from this evening will all benefit the CRI Annual Fund which provides crucial funds for equipment, supplies, coaching support and a host of other CRI needs. Thank you and see you at this great event next year!

CRI Youth Competitive Teams Divide to Conquer
Weekend Regatta Update
|
CRI youth competitive teams participated in three separate regattas this weekend, impressing all around. Saturday saw two regattas, with Varsity Boys' and Girls' eights traveling to Turkey Pond in Concord, NH for the St. Paul School/Phillips Academy/CRI Challenge. There, the Girls' 1V, 2V, and 3V, and the Boys' 1V all placed first, with an open water win for the W1V8+ and an excitingly close win in the M1V8+.
Meanwhile, Novice rowers headed to the Merrimack River in Lowell for the Novice Challenge, where the teams pitted against 22 clubs. There, the M1N8+ won gold with an astounding 19 second lead over their closest contender, and Novice Boys' 4+ boats had an equally astounding 17 second lead over the silver medal contender. Novice Girls showed depth, as well, with two bronze medal wins in both their Freshmen races, the WF8+ and the WF4+.
On Sunday, Varsity fours headed to Lake Cochituate for the Wayland-Weston invitational, where all five of the Girls' boats placed to progress to grand finals against impressive competition, but weather conditions and unsafe water forced the cancellation of afternoon finals races. Complete results for all races can be found at Row2K.
Congratulations all around!
Next week, CRI Youth Competitive teams head to Lowell for the Lowell Invitational. Go CRI!!

Better Next Year: A Coach's Performance Review & Improvement Plan
Doing the same thing every year, because it's what we did last year, may be familiar but may not yield better performance. The nature of competition-one performance against another's performance-provides a working arena for coaches and athletes to interminably seek higher levels of performance. Like rowers who track fitness data and tailor training plans (e.g. Lactate Threshold), coaches also look for methods to improve h/her future coaching performance.
Learning from the previous year's performance can give you and your team a leg up next year, but only if those improvements actually make it into the following year's plan. Dr. Ira Martin, a leadership scholar at the Coast Guard Academy and coach longevity expert, will work with coaches in this workshop to teach coaches how to analyze your prior season's performance and apply the methods of Performance Improvement & Organizational Efficacy to be even better next year. Join us to hear Dr. Martin present evidence-based techniques you can use to review your performance. Learn how to generate a plan for becoming better next year!
