CRI Youth Impress at Saratoga
17th Annual Saratoga Invitational

CRI sent 200 athletes to the 17th annual Saratoga Invitational this past weekend for some fantastic 1500 meter sprints on 10 lanes and flat water on Fish Creek.  Our rowers impressed, garnering gold, silver, and bronze medals in just about every category of racing:  sweeps and sculling, small boats and large, Men's and Women's, Novice and Varsity, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4rd, and even 5th boat entries, and in preliminary races, petit finals, and finals,   Exciting finishes included the Women's 1st Varsity 8+ final, where CRI edged out rival CBC by 0:00.531 to win the gold.  And Men's teams took gold in both the 1st Varsity 8+ and 1st Novice 8+.  Amazing!  Men's Varsity showed particular depth, with the 8+s taking first or second place finishes across the boat entries.  And Novice teams, for some of whom this was their first race, similarly impressed, with both depth and breadth in their accomplishments.

Meanwhile, as always, the CRI tent was a central focus, for cheering the rowers, for celebrating wins, for nursing blisters, and for seemingly endless meals.  Thank you to our athletes for great racing, to all who helped coordinate and support our participation, and to our host, Saratoga Rowing Association for an excellent event.

Full results are available at Saratoga Invitational results. Go CRI!

Next week, the teams head to multiple races, with Novice teams heading to Lowell for the Novice Challenge, and Varsity rowers heading to St. Paul's in Andover and the Wayland-Weston invitational in Wayland.

CRI Rowers in Italy
Memorial Paolo d'Aloja Regatta

Moayad Al-Suwaidan (bow) and Tom Wieland (stroke) recently participated in a race in Piediluco, Italy. The Memorial Paolo d'Aloja International Regatta was established to honor the memory of Paolo d'Aloja, President of the Italian Rowing Federation in the 70's and 80's.

The National Centre in Piediluco
is an official venue for national and international competitions, where athletes can stay for training all year round.

Moayad and Tom report that the regatta experience was a challenge, but an amazing experience. They had a blast!
