| Gateway to Gold Event
March 29th at Community Rowing

Launched in 2013, Gateway to Gold is the new U.S. Paralympics initiative for identifying and recruiting Paralympic eligible athletes who show an ability to compete in the future at an elite level. Gateway to Gold participants go through sport-specific tests and evaluations to determine if they are ready for the next level of opportunity in Paralympic sport.
The event, for youth and adults, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Harry Parker Boathouse.
The Gateway to Gold talent identification event will introduce individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments, including youth, adults and military veterans, to the Paralympic sports of rowing, cycling and biathalon, with a goal of identifying hopefuls for future U.S. Paralympic Teams. As a part of the clinic, prospective athletes will be tested on a variety of skills that can help determine their aptitude for Paralympic sport.
"The U.S. Paralympic Team strives to be the best in the world. But we cannot get to the top of the podium without the help of our community partners like Community Rowing, Inc.," said Charlie Huebner, USOC Chief of Paralympics. "With Community Rowing's help in hosting this Gateway to Gold talent identification clinic, U.S. Paralympics might find the next great Paralympic champion in your backyard."

CRI is Hosting Two Great Outreach Events
and We Need Your Help

Gateway to Gold, the Paralympic ID day, March 29th:
We need 10-15 volunteers to assist these paralympic hopefuls with try-out stations and check-in. Sign up for one session or volunteer for the whole event!! Free lunch provided to those who sign up! Come help support paralympic sports in Boston!! Event: Gateway to Gold Date: March 29th Volunteer Session 1: 8:30am - 12:00pm Volunteer Session 2: 12:00pm - 3:30pm Boston Youth Indoor Rowing Championship, April 11th: BYIRC, the only indoor rowing championship specifically for Boston middle schoolers, is in its 3rd year and it is going to be bigger and better than ever! We need 16-18 volunteers to help with relays, timing, results recording, boathouse tours, set up and more! Come help support youth rowing in the Boston Public School System!!! Sculling 1 - 31 (69 to go!)
If we pull together and achieve our goal we will reimburse everyone registered in General Sweeps 1 and 2, and Sculling 4, for their Term 2 tuition. (See Rules of the Game below.)
Rules of the Game:
- Registrations for Term 2 GS and Sculling must be made one week prior to the start of Term 2 to be eligible for reimbursement.
- If we reach our goal of 200 Adult Intro to Row people, we will reimburse everyone who has paid for Term 2 of General Sweeps, or one fifth of the total fee for GS full year.
- If we reach our goal of 100 Adult Sculling 1 participants, we will reimburse everyone for their Sculling 4 registration who has registered.
- If we don't reach our goal (but who are we kidding - this is CRI and we can do ANYTHING if we put our minds to it!!) we will not be able to offer Term 2 for free as hoped!!!!

| CRI Annual Scullers Meeting
Wednesday, March 26, 7:30pm

The CRI annual scullers meeting will be Wednesday, March 26 at 7:30pm in the classroom. All scullers are encouraged to attend.
Information at the meeting will review updates to the reservation policy, PBO and Logbook sides of the boat bay, private oar storage, safety issues and volunteer opportunities with the help of Kane and Dave.
