USRowing Fan Choice Awards
Vote for CRI Nominees!!
USRowing's Fan Choice Nominees have been announced, with voting starting today, continuing until Tuesday, October 15th.  There are 2 CRI nominees - Cicely Madden (Junior Athlete of Year) and Ethan Curren (Junior Coach of Year). 

Also nominated is National Team athlete Natalie McCarthy for LTA2x who trained at CRI during Paralympic selection camp and was hosted by one of our members (AJ Rourke).

USRowing maintains a strong and long tradition of rewarding excellence in rowing. Following a year of unprecedented achievement, the rowing community has designated strong nominees for the 2013 Fan's Choice Awards which are solely nominated and voted on by rowing fans. Vote now!

SAFETY Contest
Submit Your Innovative Idea...
Staying safe on the water and at the boathouse is a top priority, especially at this busy time of year at the boathouse and on the river. At CRI we have lights and fabulous vests which help keep rowers and boats visible and safe.... what other precautions, actions or ideas could we implement to promote safety?

We've gotten some excellent ideas from folks. Keep those plans coming. If you have a safety idea, we want to hear about it. Your Safety Brainstorm could win you FABULOUS prizes!!
 
The Ideas: 
Any ideas which we could use to increase safety and safety awareness on the river, which can be put into action. What additional measures might we take to take safety up a notch?

Para-Rowing Classification Workshop
October 17 & 18 at CRI

USRowing is sponsoring a Para-Rowing Classification Workshop, hosted by Community Rowing, Inc. on October 17 and 18, 2013 at the Harry Parker Boathouse.  Judy Morrison, FISA Head Classifier and

USA Classification Coordinator, will lead this workshop, intended for coaches, former rowers, and medical professionals to become certified as classifiers for para-rowing events, and for para-rowers who have an interest in competing, but have not yet been officially classified.  

 

Expanding the knowledge base of our coaches in the growing para rowing field is key for our success at every level.  For your information, Medical Classifiers can be Medical Doctors (MD), Physical Therapists (PT), or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).  They must have extensive knowledge and experience with goniometric measurements and manual muscle testing skills. Technical Classifiers can be rowers, former rowers, coaches, and those with practical knowledge of the sport of rowing.  They should have experience with Para-Rowing.

Lost and Found
Look for Your Lost Things!
We have quite a pile of items in the 'lost and found'.. which have been sorted and set aside -  Jackets/Sweatshirts , T-Shirts, Sweatpants and Unis have been hung up by the Women's and Mens Locker rooms at the top of stairs.

There are shoes, which are paired- women's sneakers, mens dress shoes and several pairs of flip flops, as well as several athletic shorts.

 

Water bottles have been cleaned...  

 

So please, come and peruse the 'lost and found' for your stuff!!



Pending Changes at ANDERSON BRIDGE!
CRAB Alert

Though changes have not yet occurred, please be aware of pending work at Anderson Bridge:
Please read the note from Mass DOT below regarding changes to the arch closure at Anderson Bridge.  We'll have to do some adjustments through the fall as they plan on Monday, Sept 16 to open Boston and close the center for a week.  On Monday, Sept 23, they plan to open the Center and close Cambridge.  Note the use of the word 'approximately', so please keep your eyes open in case these changes happen a little early, or a little late.

From the Mass DOT: 
MassDOT's contractor plans on switching barrels in the river on Monday, September 16, 2013,  to have the middle barrel closed for approximately one week and the Boston and Cambridge side open.
 
At this time they plan on switching again on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013,  to have the middle barrel and the Boston barrel open and the Cambridge side barrel closed.
