Boathouse Work PARTY - Are You Signed Up?
Friday, May 17th, 6-9pm
|
We are so excited and thankful to all of you who have already signed up to lend a hand at the CRI Work PARTY this Friday. The work party will run from 6 to 9 pm.
Dave has identified about 15 tasks, and we've published a sign-up genius so you can see what needs doing and sign up for a task in advance if you see something that excites you and so people will know what they are supposed to do when they arrive. Each task will have a job description and a person in charge and all the materials required.
We'll set up some music, get the grill going, and serve cold, refreshing beverages...
Tell your fellow rowers, teammates and other members to sign up. It is never too late. Come on by!
Check out the SignUp Genius here:

CRI Welcomes
John Tracey
| We extend a warm welcome to John Tracey, CRI's new Manager of Foundation and Corporate Giving. John comes to us with a background in corporate communications and was most recently at Eaton Vance, where he was a senior writer and editor.
Perhaps you followed John's recent series for www.row2k.com where he traveled the United States in search of rowing venues. Check out this entry where John rowed on Johnny Cash's lake in Nashville! http://tinyurl.com/cvocchj
One of CRI's earliest members, John feels, "like he's come home." Welcome aboard John!

CRI Youth Competitive Teams
9th Lowell Invitational
CRI Youth Competitive Teams Take 9th Lowell Invitational by Storm
CRI Novice and Varsity teams braved wind and rain in a full range of sculling and sweep events at this weekend's 9th Lowell Invitational. CRI had a boat in almost every race in Sunday final's racing thanks to impressive results in qualifying heats on Saturday. And CRI boats placed in just about every race on Sunday as well, pulling in an impressive 31 medals in all (11 1st place, 12 2nd place, and 8 3rd place finishes), with several exciting photo finishes. CRI showed particular strength in their final sprints, taking many of the contenders by surprise in the last seconds of racing, and boding well for next week's USRowing Northeast Junior District Championships.
For more information, including times and challengers, can be found at Lowell Invitational Sunday 5/12/13 results and Lowell Invitational Saturday 5/11/2013 results.
Thank you to our host, the Lowell High School Rowing program, in coordination with the Merrimack River Rowing Association (MRRA). And congratulations to our CRI rowers!
Good luck at the USRowing Northeast Junior District Championships next week!

CWRA Water Sampling
Sampling Dates and Locations
|
Charles River Watershed Association samples the river regularly in the summer so they are able to provide up to date information on the health of the river, but did you know they also sample the river year round? With help from a team of over 80 volunteers they sample the entire river from Hopkinton to Boston once a month, year round.
The CWRA samplers collect water from the river using a weighted basket that they drop into the water between 5:45am - 6:30am on sampling mornings. While volunteers are very careful to watch for boaters, the CWRA want to be sure folks are aware of this program so that those of us on the river can take care to avoid conflicts with the CRWA volunteer samplers. They will be sampling river water from bridges or wading directly into the river between 5:45am - 6:30am on dates listed below: Tuesday, May 21st Tuesday, June 18th Tuesday, July 16th Tuesday, August 20th Tuesday, September 17th Tuesday, October 8th Tuesday, November 19th Tuesday, December 17th To see the sampling site location dates and bridges, for your reference. Please visit the CRWA Monthly Monitoring site map.
