Sweet Success in Saratoga!
Coach Bode Reports

On a breezy October Sunday, the girls novice team met with sweet success on Saratoga Lake at the 2012 Head of the Fish. With entries in several categories, the river was a blanket of red, white, and black blades! The Freshman 8+ started 5th & finished 3rd (out of 9 entries), passing two boats to take bronze; the Novice 8+ with four CRI entries (36 athletes) was the show-stopper of the day!  All 4 boats finished in the top 13 (out of 28) starting as far back as 22nd, 25th, and 28th, to finish 3rd, 7th, 9th, and 13th. These are fantastic results!  The A boat finished only 1.2 seconds from 2nd place, St. Catherine's, and beat all crews from New England's best programs/our arch rivals (e.g. Bromfield).

Astoundingly the D boat finished ahead of 7 other program's A boats (!) proving that our team's motto, "leave no teammate behind," works to produce the deepest and fastest overall novice team in the country!  The Frosh 4+ (seen in the above photo) coxed by Caroline Mountain, rowed by the Sotowrights (Adriana & Natalie), Ahaana Singh, and Naomi Eisenberg, starting29th, passed several boats to win the B boat category to finish a fantastic 10th place (out of 34 entries)!

Our first-ever sculling entries were also in the hunt, with the 2x finishing in 4th place. And though the 4x struggled to keep straight on the course, due to an unfortunate mechanical issue (i.e. coaching error), they were still able to manage finishing the race under tough circumstances. In all, the weekend proved to be a very exciting one for all who raced and watched.

Thanks to all parents!!!!  Without you (and the wonderful support you provide for the girls day-in and day-out) we would not be the team we are today!

Congratulations to the team, job well done!
CRI Fifth Annual Headless Halloween Regatta
Saturday, November 3rd

Yes, in November again!! We want you ALL to join us - in costume and ready to race!  This year's race will be in honor and remembrance of Jacquie McCarthy, a dear friend, sculler,  and past captain at CRI as well as one of the founders of this fun day.

We will follow the same race course as in previous years - the start is near the HOCR finish line and you'll finish right in front of the CRI docks.  Meet at 8:30 am for last minute info, first boats launch at 8:35, and racing begins at 9am.  This race is open to all - beginners, advanced, adaptive, veterans, tubbies, B boats, singles , doubles, quads, even a few eights and even if you've never raced before!!  The entrance fee is easy also - a costume and something to share at the post race brunch.  There will be several race categories and lots of prizes including Best Costume, Best Rowing Style, as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each race.

To sign up , email me your name, age and boat choice or a private boat at lyns@mindspring.com

We also need volunteers before and after -  set up and take down for the brunch, and during the race itself as timers, launch drivers, and a few dock hands and a photographer.  let me know at the email above!!
