Dear Chamber Members & Friends,

This past weekend I attended some of the events for the US Mayoral Conference that Dallas hosted this year.  It was amazing to see Mayors from so many different cities across America come together to discuss the initiatives they have going on and the impact they are having on their communities.

So what has the Chamber been up to lately that is impacting the Oak Cliff community?  Recently at the Chamber we've...
  • Held our annual Gala.  Our biggest fundraiser of the year was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on May 30th and featured a live and silent auction, raffle, live entertainment, voice of the Dallas Mavericks Chris Arnold, and much more.  Since the Oak Cliff Chamber is not city-funded, this event is vital to keep our programs going from year to year and we are grateful to the 500+ people that came out to support us at this event
  • Addressed gateway zoning boundaries and legislative sessions planning for 2015 in our committee meetings.  Our six committees: Economic Development, Legislative Affairs, Membership Services, Community Affairs, Transportation, and Education, meet either monthly or bi-monthly at the Chamber building and are open to anyone interested in learning more about these issues for Oak Cliff
  • Created valuable networking opportunities for our members at our monthly Coffee & Commerce event.  If you're looking to get your name out in the community, consider joining us at this event that's held the second Tuesday of every month from 8:00 to 9:00am in the Chamber's Community Development Room.  Everyone gets a chance to give their "elevator speech" to the group and we usually have a raffle drawing at the end of each event.

Our work continues!

On July 24th we will be holding our 3rd Annual Economic Forecast at Hitt Auditorium of Methodist Hospital.  This breakfast event will be held from 7:30-9:00am and will feature lead experts in economic development, both on a local and national level, to forecast what we might expect from our economy in the coming months.  Stay tuned for more details on this event.

Also, be sure to save the date for our upcoming Golf Tournament on September 22nd.  This year the tournament will be held at the Golf Club of Dallas (formerly Oak Cliff Country Club), check-in will begin at 7:30am with a shotgun start at 8:30am.  We hope you'll join us!

Wishing you a safe and happy rest of the week!

Interim President
