Letter from the President
|
Dear Friends,
Happy Election Day! As you head out to the polls, we ask you to vote "YES" for Proposition 6 which will allow the Legislature to use money from the state's rainy day fund to help Texas communities finance much-needed water conservation projects. Currently Texas does not have enough existing water supplies to meet the demand for water during times of drought. We hope you'll consider voting "Yes" on this critical issue.
Turning towards the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays, we'd like to take a moment to look back on 2013 thus far and share a few things that we at the Oak Cliff Chamber are thankful for this year:
- Our members, without whose support the Chamber would not be here.
We couldn't do it without you guys! - An active Board of Directors that dedicate their time to helping the Chamber succeed. Thanks to each and every one of you for all do for this organization!
- Our 8+ Committees that strive to make the Oak Cliff community the best place to live, work, and play.
These are the folks that work on Legislative agendas, zoning cases, and education initiatives throughout the year, as well as put on the Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, and Public Safety Fair. Our volunteers rock! - The opportunity to grow the Chamber at our new building.
Construction on the Chamber's new headquarters at 1001 N. Bishop Ave. is well underway! Asbestos has been abated, walls have been deconstructed and reconstructed, flooring and carpet is scheduled to go in soon... - A community that continues to prosper and grow day by day.
Have you ridden the D-Link shuttle yet? Been to the newest restaurant in Bishop Arts? Caught a movie at the Texas Theatre? There's always something new and different happening in Oak Cliff!
There are so many things to be grateful for in this community and we'd like to celebrate the folks that have had a hand in its success. Please join us December 3, 2013 from 11:30am-1:00pm at Dallas Baptist University for our Annual Membership Meeting. Mayor Mike Rawlings will be our honored guest and speaker and the Chamber will be looking back at all the major accomplishments Oak Cliff has enjoyed this year. We hope you'll join us!
As always, thank you for all you do for this Chamber and the Oak Cliff community.
Sincerely, Bob Stimson, Oak Cliff Chamber President
