Letter from the President
Dear Friends & Neighbors, Bob Stimson, President

We are overwhelmed by the show of support we received at the zoning case on September 16th for the building we recently purchased.  Nearly 100 people came out to show their support of the Chamber and we could not have been more thrilled--thank you!  Our zoning request was unanimously approved by Dallas City Council and the Chamber will soon have new headquarters at 1001 N. Bishop Ave.  We are very excited about the possibilities that this new building represents for us.  In addition to a new location for the Chamber, we will also have the opportunity to lease out Executive Suites to business people in the community and offer up meeting space to groups in Oak Cliff.

With renewed vigor your Chamber representatives are poised to continue to be the premier comprehensive resource for our unique and diverse Oak Cliff community.  We will continue to work toward fostering economic growth and prosperity by promoting your business interests through advocacy, networking and education.  On that note, please join us for the annual Public Safety, Health & Sustainability Fair beginning at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013.  This free, family-friendly event will include complimentary health screenings, the Dallas Police and Fire Departments, local entertainment, and activities for the kids.

In other news, DART has officially approved the creation of a new loop route, the D-Link, that will provide free direct access by shuttle from downtown Dallas to Oak Cliff.  Stops along the route will include Bishop Arts and Jefferson Boulevard, along with the Arts District, the West End, the Convention Center, and more.  You can come hear more about this new route at the Chamber's annual Transportation Summit on October 31, 2013, 7:30AM at Hitt Auditorium of Methodist Hospital.  Featured speakers include Gary Thomas of DART, Bill Hale from TXDOT and a representative to speak on the Horseshoe Project.  We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Bob Stimson
