Turn Your Frown Upside Down!
It's summer! Time to be happy, right? There are very few reasons to not smile when it is the season of sun, vacations, and long summer evenings. However, even if you are happy, do you find yourself being asked, "What's wrong?" As we age, this question seems to become more and more common -- especially from the younger generations! Unfortunately, the reason is probably due to natural aging. Take a close look around your lip region: Do you see deep lines running down from the corners of your mouth? If your answer is yes, read on!
Marionette lines are the lines that run from the corner of the mouth down to the chin. Sometimes called "frowner's lines," excessive frowning can be partially to blame. However, other factors play larger roles -- weight gain and aging are the main ones. As the skin ages, it loses both collagen (firmness) and elasticity (tautness). As elasticity is lost, the skin will begin to sag and fold. Coupled with volume loss, this sagging will produce lines on the face, and severity can range from very mild to very deep. Luckily, Dr. Michelle Yagoda has an immediate solution to help turn your frown lines upside down (or, at least remove them!).
The best course of action for marionette lines is filler. Fillers are used to add volume to the upper cheeks, replacing lost fat while lifting the skin. Additionally, this will add height to the cheekbones, slimming the face. Not only will your cheeks look more beautiful, but adding filler to the region can help alleviate some of the sagging that affects the lower portion of the face. Filler is painlessly injected using local anesthesia, and the results are instant.
However, filler isn't the only option. Both Botox and Dysport -- the injectables Dr. Yagoda prefers -- are good for removing light folds and creases. If you are already using a regimen of Botox, then paying some additional attention to this area would be easy! Dr. Yagoda will create the best plan of action for your individual cosmetic concerns, and she always discusses all options. Like filler, Botox and Dysport injections are painless, quick procedures with minimal-to-no side effects.
Marionette lines might be one of these facial features that you never noticed before but are starting to notice now. Certain lines do age the face, and, unfortunately, deep creases around the mouth make some people interpret them as "grumpy" side effects. As long as you reverse the aging in a natural way, it is absolutely possible to smooth out the face! Especially since it is summer: As the famous saying says, when you are at the beach, "don't worry; be happy!" So, if you are already happy, make sure you look it!
