Although summer is the season of "fun in the sun," you definitely don't want the good times to come at the expense of your skin! With Memorial Day only a few short weeks away, now is the time to prepare your skin to take on the sun, sand, and surf. 
    
In order to have glowing skin, regular exfoliation is key. Just like BeautyScoop's principle that beauty starts from the inside, your fresh summer skin is just waiting to be revealed! Both brushes and scrubs are good picks for sloughing off dead skin -- use what you prefer. However, rotating brushes are probably the best, and try to pick a scrub with coarse particles that dissolve over time (like sugar). 
 
Once you have exfoliated and opened up your pores, your next step should be removing unwanted hair. As can be expected, more open pores make for smoother and easier hair removal. Both shaving and waxing are fine, but, if you can tolerate it, waxing often has less irritation and better results. Once the hair is gone, try and stay out of the sun and heat for at least 48 hours. Hair follicles are especially prone to irritation and, combined with sensitive skin, rashes might occur. 

Now, clean-shaven and ready to hit the beach, it is time to put on SPF! Even if you think it is too cloudy or chilly to get sun-burned, you are wrong. UV rays DO penetrate clouds and, since you won't get as hot as when there is direct sun, you won't realize you are burned until it is too late! Make sure to purchase a sunscreen that offers both UVA and UVB protection and reapply often. It is much better to be safe than sorry!

BeautyScoop - "Flashback Friday" Lemon Summer Smoothie

Ingredients:  

  • 2 packets or 2 scoops of BeautyScoop
  • 1 6 ounce lemon Greek yogurt
  • 1 large banana
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup low fat, organic milk
  • 1/2 to 1 cup crushed ice, depending on desired consistency
  • 2 peppermint candy "straws" (sticks)
Preparation:
  1. In a blender, combine the milk, yogurt, BeautyScoop, banana, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add ice until desired consistency. Blend again. 
  3. Pour into two glasses and garnish with peppermint candy straws, if desired. It is delicious!
  4. Enjoy!
