It is HOT out there! As July temperatures heat up, so do the popular beauty trends for the summer. Nail art is one of those things that might seem intimidating at first, but with some simple directions, it is definitely feasible to do yourself. Instead of spending time (and money!) in a salon, try one of these DIY nail art methods!
This first method is simple! But, if you are feeling a little more bold, try tie-dye nails. These are two of the most popular nail art trends for the Summer of 2014.
1. Pastel Faded Nails
a. Start with a white base. Use a sponge to apply
pale pink to 1/3rd of the nail.
b. Apply pale purple on top of the pink, but make
sure to still leave a little white.
c. Fill in all remaining white space with the pale blue-green.
d. Use the topcoat to blend, and you're done!
2. Tie Dye Nails
a. First, apply any base coat you'd like.
b. Fill a small saucer with water. Let a few drops of nail polish (chose any color) drip from the brush into the water.
c. Take a second color and let it drip down into the middle of the first color (it is okay if the color spreads out -- it should). Alternate the colors a few times, making sure to drip them in the middle.
d. Using a needle, swirl the colors together to make a design you like.
e. Next, dip each nail into the water. Once you submerge your nail, the color will adhere. To minimize mess, and keep polish off your skin, use scotch tape to isolate the nail from the rest of your finger.
f. You will need to add a few drops of each color (steps c and d) for every
nail. Now you're done!
We want to see your artwork! Send BeautyScoop your pictures if you try either method -- or send us your favorite DIY nail art and you may be the lucky winner of a canister of BeautyScoop!
TREND ALERT: Straight and gay men who have pedicures are opting for "MALE" polish. Have you noticed any gray or blue toenails on any alpha-nails?
