St. James Church to Host November 2nd Racial Reconciliation Event

As Clergy, Senior and Junior Wardens, and other dedicated laypersons from congregations prepare to gather on November 2 at St. James Church in Baton Rouge for this first of two events,
Bishop Thompson has issued this request:

"The number of people who will be attending the Racial Reconciliation conference on Saturday, November 2, (9am-3:45pm), has vastly exceeded both our expectations and the resources that the Committee for Racial Reconciliation has in its annual budget

Attending or not, if you would be willing to help us with your financial support of the meals, we would greatly appreciate a donation on the day of the event or by contacting my office.

We ... anticipate a lively and inspiring day."

Faithfully,
MKT

The Rt. Rev'd Morris K. Thompson, Jr.

The 2nd & main event will be at Christ Church Cathedral on January 18, 2014, at which time we will participate in a service that we are calling "Seeking Christ in all People: a Service of Commitment to Racial Healing, Justice and Reconciliation." Read the full letter here

Jericho Road's 2013 Central City Harvest Festival

On October 15, Jericho Road hosted a Harvest Festival for the kids of Central City in our orchard! We had about 25 kids come out, and they got to make some healthy (and yummy!) grilled pizzas veggies helpfully donated by the Fresh Market on St. Charles Ave. There were also plenty of orange slices, which were a big hit! We had several crafts, including the painting of flower pots, which then had seeds (donated by Parkway Partners) planted in them! The kids also painted a banner which will hang in our orchard. Everyone had a blast! We consider this Harvest Festival a huge success, and one we couldn't have pulled off without the help of volunteers from the PC (USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer Program, as well as a representative from Hands On New Orleans. In the future, we will be hosting similar events on a monthly basis, so if you would like to volunteer, please contact Jericho Road's Multi-Program Associate, Sydney Hubbard, at 504-895-2883 or at sydneyhubbard@jerichohousing.org.
