Bishop Thompson Announces the Rev'd Shannon Manning
as Next Canon to the Ordinary
The job of Canon to the Ordinary is a special ministry that requires unique skills and I am happy to announce that I have called the Rev'd Shannon Manning to fill the position. Shannon brings a wealth of skills that will be important to the mission of this Diocese. She comes to us from St. James' Church, Jackson, MS where she has been the associate rector. She has served in various capacities of leadership and was heavily involved in the formation of clergy in the Diocese of Mississippi. Shannon is married to Ricky Manning; they have two boys: Nicholas (10) and Tucker (6). Shannon will begin her work in New Orleans Tuesday, October 1. I am excited about the Rev'd Shannon Manning accepting this call. Please keep the Manning's and this Diocese in your prayers as we begin a new chapter of leadership. I remain as always Your Servant in Christ,

Exploring Personality in the Spiritual Journey: Nine Panels of Types Speaking for Themselves
A Narrative Tradition Workshop led by Sandra Smith, M.Div., Certified Enneagram Consultant
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 and SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day St. James Center for Spiritual Formation at 205 N. 4th St. Baton Rogue.
What is my greatest obstacle to my deepest prayer? What stands between me and my experience of the Divine? I do, of course. Which begs the question, "Who am I?"... a foundational theological question.
The Enneagram Personality System names type-specific paths to a compassionate heart, as well as the barriers that each personality encounters on the journey to wholeness. The power of the Enneagram is that it names the fears that bind us and identifies filters of perception that blind us to the love and compassion present in each moment. Get more information here
