St. Michael's in Mandeville recently hosted a group of 55 members of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (Pearland, Texas) as they were returning to Texas from a mission trip to Alabama. After eating "rural Alabama middle school cafeteria food" for a week, the missioners were thrilled to get a home cooked dinner and breakfast. They also received Mardi Gras beads and warm hospitality. It was a blessing to have these youth and their chaperones at St. Michael's.

Church of the Transfiguration NewsAngola Prison Ministry
Next month, the Episcopal Banquet will take place on Saturday, August 3rd. We will meet at the front gate at 5:30 p.m. with the banquet and Episcopal service to begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. at Main Prison in the main visiting area. Bishop Thompson plans to confirm four persons at this service. At the banquet we will also make the presentation of the Miller Armstrong Humanitarian Award. Names for any invited guests to the banquet - other than those names already included on our multiple gate passes - should be submitted by July 15.
The regular Episcopal Ministry Service will also take place on Tuesday, August 6 - The Feast of the Transfiguration.
Two opportunities remain for the required annual volunteer training for this calendar year:
Saturday, July 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and
again in October (date and time to be announced.)
Both sessions will be held at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ, 8725 Jefferson Highway, in Baton Rouge.
It has come to my attention that the applications of several persons who recently completed the volunteer training have not yet been fully processed by Angola, due to a backlog of work there. We hope to resolve this issue soon so that the names of all of you who have answered the call to visit those in Angola can be added to the requisite gate passes prior to our August events.
Thank you for all of your prayers, travels, work, and concern for this ministry. Please let me know of any questions or concerns that you have.
Rev. Peggy K. Scott
