The SECC is looking for someone with, yes, wait for it... a BetaMax tape player!

In their ongoing efforts to preserve the "long and extensive" 20 year history at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center, they are searching for a way to transfer Beta video to DVD format, as well as preserve 35mm slides of the construction and early days of the center.

Conference Center Director, Frank Hall, says "Any suggestions are welcome back to me at (985) 277-5380 direct or at my email

Stephen Ministry Training
Planned for Fall

Might you feel called to the Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministers are lay people who are trained to care for other lay people in crises, and a training opportunity will begin in the fall for those who are interested in this ministry.

At present, St. James participates in the Stephen Ministry along with St. Luke's, Trinity, Holy Spirit, and St. Margaret's Episcopal churches. This gives us the opportunity to be part of a larger community caring for those in need. Please call Allen Paterson at 225-819-6041 or Mildred Taylor at 225-769-2049 if you are interested in more information about the Stephen Ministry and the fall training.
