American Baptist Home Mission
May 2014

Greetings in the name of

our Lord and Savior!

Executive Director

When I consider all of the places and spaces in which the Lord equips American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) to do ministry in his name, I am truly in awe! Just a glance at this month's e-newsletter provides an inkling of the breadth of ABHMS' ministry. We will actively participate with Great Rivers Region of American Baptist Churches USA and Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County in a Blitz Build in Illinois next month, and we were among the first to respond to the community with crucial funds following the recent landslide in Oso, Wash. And while ABHMS does minister in times of tragic events, it's certainly not all that we do. We are constantly on watch, advocating for the underserved and underrepresented, whether that be the incarcerated, the food insecure, or individuals with disabilities, or whether that be in more subtle ways, such as partnering with the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, which, ultimately, prevents worker exploitation and preserves human rights by ensuring corporate accountability via responsible investment practices.

ABHMS continues to welcome your prayers as we serve as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
