Things to Do
Flagler Museum

When it was completed in 1902, the New York Herald proclaimed that Whitehall, Henry Flagler's Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach, was "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world."   The 75-room, 100,000-square-foot Gilded Age mansion was a wedding present for his wife, Mary Lily Kenan Flagler. The couple used the home as a winter retreat from 1902 until Flagler's death in 1913, establishing the Palm Beach season for the wealthy of the Gilded Age.

Today, Whitehall is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public as the Flagler Museum, featuring guided tours, changing exhibits, and special programs.  In addition to touring Whitehall, during the fall and winter months visitors may explore the Museum's changing exhibition gallery which features temporary exhibits on topics related to Florida history and America's Gilded Age. The current exhibition, Kiss the Ocean, about the building of the Panama Canal is of particular note and interest. There are also permanent exhibits on the history of Henry Flagler's life and career and the Museum's extensive lace collection. The Flagler Kenan Pavilion, designed in the style of a 19th century Beaux Arts railway palace, houses Henry Flagler's private railcar, No. 91, and is open to visitors year round.  Built in 1886 for Flagler's personal use, the railcar was acquired by the Museum in 1959 as an artifact of Florida history and an important part of Flagler's story.

Each afternoon the Flagler Museum offers a sumptous tea style lunch, which features an array of delicacies and refreshments reminiscent of the elegance of entertaining during the Gilded Age. Visitors will enjoy a selection of gourmet tea sandwiches, traditional scones, and sweets complemented by the Flagler Museum's own Whitehall Special Blend™ tea, and served on exquisite Whitehall Collection™ china.  Café des Beaux-Arts is located in the beautiful Flagler Kenan Pavilion and provides guests with spectacular panoramic views of Lake Worth.  Advance purchase is recommended for this very special treat.

REAL ESTATE TRENDS BI moongate
BallenIsles Sales

The stable and consistent trends in the Palm Beach Real Estate Market aided by low interest rates, consumer and builder confidence, home equity gains throughout the nation, and especially the promise of exciting new inventory entering our market in the next 12-24 months, gives us confidence that BallenIsles's Real Estate Market growth will continue.  The balance of this year should see steady increases in sales, prices and hopefully inventory, which will lead to impressive results during our peak winter and spring sales seasons.

With the tourism season expected to reach record levels and the volume of inquiries we are receiving already showing signs of surpassing last year's high-level of activity, for those property owners considering selling, this is the time for us to be discussing a listing.  The process of getting a property on the market can take a 1-2 weeks so the sooner you start the more chance we have of introducing your listing to the real estate community in time for season.  In addition to the adage "location, location, location," timing is everything!
