Janet Cox, President/CEO for The BACCHUS Network Accepts New Position
The BACCHUS Network™ announced today that Janet Cox, President/CEO, has accepted a position as the Dean of Students at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. She will begin her new role in early July.
Janet Cox has served as a staff member for The BACCHUS Network for 18 years serving the organization originally as Director of Program Services and later was promoted to Associate Executive Director and then Vice President/Chief Operations Officer. She was appointed the President/CEO in 2011. Prior to joining the staff, Janet worked as a student affairs professional as the Director of the Holland Union Building and Student Leadership at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania where she advised the BACCHUS peer education program and served as a national area consultant for the organization.
Janet has been a dedicated professional serving our regional and national volunteers, mentoring the student trustees and student advisory committee representatives, and co-creating many educational materials, trainings and health promotion campaigns. One of Janet's greatest strengths for the network was planning quality conference experiences for peer educators and professionals. The General Assembly, National Conference on the Social Norms Approach, and National Conference for Peer Educator Advisors have all been quality learning experiences because of her commitment to prevention and her ability to provide leadership in realizing a vision for each of these meetings.
In addition, Janet is known for her relationship building in working with partner organizations and corporations. She has led the efforts of the CoHEASAP (Coalition for Higher Education Associations for Substance Abuse Prevention), serving as convener after serving as the BACCHUS representative for 16 years.
During her years with BACCHUS, Janet has overseen grant activities funded by the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado Division of Behavioral Health, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Montana Tobacco Use and Prevention Program, and the Centers for Disease Control, Office on Smoking and Health and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. She has presented at a variety of regional and national conferences including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association, American Council on Education, National Association of Campus Activities, and National Association of Fraternity Advisors.
Dr. Ed Hammond, President of Fort Hays State University and Chairperson of The BACCHUS Network Board of Trustees, commented, "The Board of Trustees thanks Janet for her tireless leadership and management of The BACCHUS Network over the last 18 years. Her efforts to raise money during the last two years were critical to the success of the organization. It has been a pleasure to work with a professional that values strong interpersonal relationships."
Janet stated, "Having had the privilege of serving The BACCHUS Network for 18 years has been an incredible gift. I have learned so much from the amazing student leaders and dedicated campus advisors, as well as the talented group of professionals who have served on our staff who believe in BACCHUS' mission. I take with me many great moments and lasting impressions of our outstanding programs around the country. I am honored to be a part of the BACCHUS story and hope to remain involved in the future."
On her new position, Janet commented, "I am excited about returning to a campus in student affairs and working with students on a daily basis. The College of Mount St. Joseph has a great academic program and is committed to service and ethical leadership as part of the learning environment. I hope to contribute in positive ways to the continued growth and development of this mission."
