Red Clay Writers Conference

This year, the 5th annual Red Clay Writers Conference will be held in the Social Sciences Building at Kennesaw State University. Each of the eight, one-hour panels will focus on a different literary topic, ranging from Character Development to Self-Publishing. Click here for details on the speakers.

Picture This: The Making of an Historical Novel
The GWA is thrilled to announce Lynn Cullen as the keynote speaker for the upcoming Red Clay Writers Conference. Cullen's latest release, Mrs. Poe, is an editor's pick for the Historical Novels Review. Named a 2013 Best Read by NPR and a Best Book 2013 by Atlanta Magazine , the novel "examines the fall of Edgar Allen Poe through the eyes of poet Francis Osgood."

 James B. Golden Workshop Saturday November 8, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 at the KSU Center, Room 300 James B. Golden, the NAACP Image Award winner and Salinas Poet Laureate, will host a workshop on Saturday, November 8, at the KSU Center. This stop on his tour features a reading from James' new book, Bull: The Journey of a Freedom Icon, which has received great attention since its release in April.

From Writer to Author: How to Get Published in 2015
Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 at the Decatur Public Library
Victoria Wilcox, winner of the 2014 Georgia Author of the Year for First Novel, is the speaker of the GWA's annual Holiday Party in December. This workshop details the steps to selecting an agent, creating a successful agent submission, and managing the business of publication. This event is free! Nominations
Books published in 2014 are eligible to nominate. Nominations will be open from November 1, 2014, to January 31, 2015.
New Categories
New fiction categories include: Detective/Mystery, Graphic Novel, Humor, Romance, Sci-fi/Fantasy, and Supernatural/Paranormal. Animal Book has also been added to the nonfiction categories. Descriptions of all the available categories can be found in the guidelines.
