Dear Friends of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival,

We started the month of June with an incredible Kick-Off Celebration for the 25th Anniversary of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival! Thank you to everyone involved for a great event.

As we head full speed into June, we are getting very excited to see you on the streets of Cherry Creek North. Visit with the 260 juried artists and BUY ART from these incredible creators! There are some wonderful things in store for your visit, including an Anniversary Street Party with Janus! Join the Festival's Title Sponsor Janus for a Street Party each day from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Janus Plaza on Fillmore, featuring interactive art activities, a giant cake, music, surprise performances and more!

We couldn't support art education in Colorado in the way that we do without continued support from our title sponsor Janus. Their support of our education outreach efforts have allowed us to double the reach of our Mobile Art Gallery in the past year. Through their generosity, we also have infused 644 pieces of original artwork into schools all over Colorado as permanent art installations through the Janus Student Art Buying Program. To see this incredible program in action, join us this year Friday, July 3 for the Student Showcase at the Janus Art Experience on Clayton.

We're one month away, let the countdown begin!

The speeches thanked sponsors and volunteers, and honored founder Bill Charney and former President and CEO Terry Adams. A special thanks to our 25 year volunteers Howie James, Mark Rinker and William Collier.
Commemorative CherryArts Sculpture

Denver artist Garrett Brown is the creator behind the all-new iconic "CherryArts" sculpture commissioned to celebrate the 25th Anniversary. When finished, the sculpture will be 15-feet tall, including the stem of the cherry, and six feet in diameter. It's made of many materials, including medium density fiberboard, structural foam, water-based contact cement and steel. Garrett will be doing an artist takeover on our Instagram later in the month of June. Stay tuned for more details!

"I quickly focused in on raku, an ancient Japanese pit firing technique. It's an exciting interactive process with lots of smoke and open flame. It allows me to highlight hand-carved elements on some pieces, and to smoke original, hand-etched motifs into others. The most important thing to know about my pieces is that ntwo will ever be the same. All coloring is achieved with smoke."

"The most rewarding moment of my artistic life happened last year when I presented a drawing of the chief of a tribe of Bushmen in the Kalahari, a portrait of himself performing the trance dance. In a real way, it connected my line to one much older. We find this tribe every year in Botswana, a tribe whose art dates back thousands of years- before it was called art. My friendship with the headman is one of the greatest privileges of my life."

"The emotions that are stirred in a viewer are a large part of where art happens. In this way, art finds fulfillment and comes full circle-I believe it creates a positive flow of energy between the art, the viewer, and myself. I initiate the process as I explore landscapes that capture my heart, interest and imagination-a fleeting moment, a pattern in nature, something seen that gives meaning and connection to that light-filled bit of space and time."

The Cherry Creek Arts Festival's young professionals board, Perspective, celebrates it's third year in 2015. Perspective aims to advance arts and business education, cultivate future art buyers, promote community leadership and philanthropy development, and give a younger demographic access and input to Festival experiences and business.

Perspective is hosting this year's Art - NOW!, which will take place Thursday, July 2, 7 p.m. -10 p.m. on Cherry Creek North's Clayton Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Join us for the Artist Preview Event and celebration for 28 of the 260 juried visual artists that will be exhibiting at the Festival. The party's theme is Silver Soiree to honor our 25th Anniversary and features live music curated by the Biennial of the Americas.

"NOW!" is the theme for the 2015 Biennial of the Americas, opening July 14-19, and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival is proud to feature the music curation and sample of the Biennial of the Americas.
