The Canvas

June 6, 2013

Dear friends of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival,

We're looking forward to hosting you as we celebrate the 4th of July weekend in Cherry Creek North!

You're in for a treat this year. The 250 artists you'll meet have been working hard to offer you a world-class visual arts experience. They are ready and waiting to tell you their stories and help you learn more about what they do. It is our hope you will be inspired to start, or add to, your personal art collection with a piece or two of original artwork!

At the Arts Festival weekend, we take a moment out of our busy lives to celebrate the visual, performing and culinary arts. You are our guest, and we want you to feel welcome as you make your way through the streets of Cherry Creek North to "Live Love Art."

We'd like to thank this year's presenting sponsors, Janus, Arrow Electronics and Toyota, for their outstanding leadership and supporting our success. We couldn't do it without them.

On behalf of our board of directors, staff, volunteers, and the local merchants, we wish you a safe a pleasant visit!

Denver International Airport is showcasing more than 20 years of Cherry Creek Arts Festival posters in the Terminal A Bridge during the month of June and throughout July.

"It's a complete collection and a wonderful historical perspective on the Festival," said Terry Adams, president and CEO of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. "We really appreciate DIA giving travelers the opportunity to experience our artistic heritage."

Many of the Festival's previous year's posters are available for sale through the Art Shop.

Athleta Esprit de She celebrates the art of fitness at the Festival

The Athleta Esprit de She Run will make its Cherry Creek Arts Festival debut with 5K and 10K runs on Sunday morning, July 7, with a fun and exciting ending at the 2013 Festival in Denver's Cherry Creek North District.

"The addition of Athleta Esprit de She to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival is a truly special opportunity for all," said Terry Adams, president and CEO of the Festival. "Life Time shares our mission and believes in taking care of the whole self. The Esprit de She embraces Colorado's commitment to health and fitness, and we could not be more excited for its debut."

"Just as we see the visual, culinary and performing arts as core to the fabric of the community, the art of fitness has become much the same," said Athleta Esprit de She brand director, Lindsey Kurhajetz. "That's why we are so honored to be part of the rich tradition of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival and to present women with an opportunity to participate in the Athleta Esprit de She 5K and 10K events. Equally exciting is the post-race celebration at the festival, celebrating participants' successes in the heart of a unique cultural experience."

To RSVP for an Athleta Esprit de She event, visit www.espritdeshe.com, the official website of The Spirit of Her Race Series. Participants can also register on site at the Festival on July 5 and 6.

Festival banners line Speer Blvd.

You may notice the Cherry Creek Arts Festival is in the public eye more
and more as we count down the days until July 5.  Festival banners now line Speer Blvd. throughout the festival weekend.  The banners showcase CCAF's most popular commemorative poster images!

We welcome volunteers

According to Carol Hiller, volunteer and culinary manager of the Festival, volunteers are not the icing on the cake: volunteers ARE the cake. Volunteers participate in every aspect of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, including months of planning prior to the days of the event. And they do it for the love of art, of community and of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival!

Whether you are a long-term volunteer or have never been to the CCAF, you will be  welcomed and very much appreciated. With so many committees from which to choose we are sure to find a spot that is right for you.

Adding to our current 22 committees there are two new opportunities this year: ice cream cart sales and the Innovator's Club. If either seem interesting to you, or if you would like to view information on all the event opportunities please visit:  www.CherryArts.org/Volunteer

The volunteer program is presented by Xfinity.

VOLUNTEER!

Volunteers are the backbone of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The difference between a good volunteer program and a great one is that the volunteers have a wonderful time while they are working for the event.

A team of almost 1,000 volunteers are needed to produce the Cherry Creek Arts Festival each year. The Cherry Creek Arts Festival's mission is to provide access to a broad array of arts experiences and support arts education in Colorado. Our volunteer team understands that mission and works toward its goals by volunteering for one of our many committees during the event.
