In my readings recently I ran across a story that made me smile and, yet, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. But I thought I might clean it up a bit and share it with you-because there may be some things to learn from it. So here it is-
A tiny bird was flying south for the winter, but it was late in its retreat, and the air was so cold that it began to freeze before it made it to the warm climate. Suddenly, it fell from the sky under the weight of the ice on its wings and plopped down right in the middle of a large rural field. A big cow walked by and dropped some manure on the freezing bird. At first, the small bird was upset and let out a loud screech in protest. But then the bird felt how warm was the manure. So the bird began to thaw out under the blanket of manure deposited by the large cow. In fact, after awhile the bird warmed up and felt much better. It was good to be alive and so in spontaneous response to its improved condition it began to sing out in joy (as happy birds are prone to do).
Meanwhile, a cat was walking by and heard the sound of the singing. It followed the sound to the manure and began digging into the manure to get to the source of the song. That is when the cat discovered the tiny bird. So immediately the cat ate the tiny bird that was thawing out in the pile of manure. The End.
Now there are some lessons we can learn from this story. First, not everybody who drops manure on you is your enemy. Secondly, not everybody who digs you out of the manure is your friend. Finally, when you are in the manure it is probably best to keep your mouth shut!
Have a Blessed Day!
