Dor L'Dor in Israel

Did you know: Many Cohen Camps teens may not get to go to Israel after all this year?

It's true. Many Dor L'Dor Leadership Program families this year are struggling to give their children this extraordinary experience--one they have been looking forward to for years--because of cost.

As all of us in this camp family know, The Cohen Camps have always felt that Israel is integral to Jewish life. As a camper, I had always heard that making a personal connection to the State of Israel--visiting the land and meeting the people--can be transformative. Each summer, Dor L'Dor gives the oldest campers their chance to make this connection, and to integrate this global Jewish perspective into their own capacity, resilience and growth as young leaders for their communities and for camp. And each year, the teens call this capstone life-changing.

Two summers ago, I got to make my own, first-time Israel visit with the Cohen Camps 2014 Adult Trip. The experience made such an impact, connecting the dots to complete my Jewish identity, that I'm going on the Adult Trip again this summer.

Camps Pembroke, Tel Noar and Tevya have now distributed even more financial aid to Dor L'Dor families than before, to all who applied, but the need is greater.Boston's Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) has also exhausted its available funds.

These kids may not get to go on Dor L'Dor without you.

Please think about your own travel to Israel... The value this trip can have in a teen's life... How much Dor L'Dor meant to your child... Or how much your child looks forward to traveling this year with ALL of his or her cherished friends.

Would you please join me in supporting these families to give their children this transformative opportunity?

Consider joining me with a gift of $1,000 of your own. And please remember, every gift counts - we want our young people to feel, know, and be part of the Israel experience.

P.S. The approach of Passover makes me think of wonderful food-and also of inviting those less fortunate to share our tables. Such a beautiful expression of taking care of each other. Please join me in caring for these families by helping to connect their children to Israel. Please donate now.
A note from Jonathan Cohen, third generation president of The Cohen Camps
I am honored and humbled that alumna Marjorie Druker wanted to write to you and share her passion in this way. Marjorie told me she credits Camp Tevya with her first food industry job-as the first-ever female, full-time kitchen staffperson at Tevya! This year, 93% of eligible Cohen Campers want to join the Dor L'Dor leadership Program-- more than ever before. It's so important that we do our part to engage and nurture these young people now.
