A Few Campus and Classroom Grants in Action:

College and Career-Bound Bobcats

Bell Manor Elementary

Grant funds were used to purchase the "Jobs in Pawland" computer program used by elementary students in all grade levels.  Students used the assessment tools to identify their skills and interests and then explored careers throughout the virtual town that best matched their strengths.

"The generous 'Sonja and Neal Adams Grant' will indeed make a difference. For most students on our campus, this grant provided the first glance that college could be a reality."

- Christie Cooper-Williamson, Counseling Department

Read Your Heart Out!

Meadow Creek Elementary

Each student checked out "Book Buddy" bags to take home, complete with a reading log and books at their individual reading levels.

"It was wonderful to have a variety of on-level texts for students to practice reading at home, especially in different genres. Students really connected to our lesson topics when they had read on-level books about the same topics. The books have encouraged excitement about reading."

- Trish Handy, Kindergarten Teacher

Bedford Heights on the Ball

Bedford Heights Elementary

26 stability balls were used for classroom chairs for students in 2nd and 3rd grade. Those given the ball as an accommodation experienced significant relief from anxiety and ADHD symptoms in the classroom.

"Parents with children that used the balls had consistently positive comments. Teachers had mostly positive input. We plan to order more next year for use in the upper grade classrooms. Thanks again for the funding!"

- Cynthia Lotton, Counseling Department
Awards of Excellence Program

Each year, the Foundation recognizes 29 outstanding high school seniors and their choice of a teacher mentor at the Awards of Excellence dinner. Please mark your calendar for our next event on Thursday, March 5, 2015.
