USTA Coaches Workshops
USTA Tennessee knows that behind every great player is a great coach. We have resources and workshops available for continuing or beginning coaches education. Tennessee is lucky to have Karl Davies as the USTA Southern TN Representative. Karl is also a national trainer for the USTA. Karl as well as other USTA TN staff are available to hold workshops and
training sessions in your area.

TOURNAMENT HOSTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2016 
 
Junior Qualifier
Southern Level 4 State Open
Southern Level 4 State Closed
 
All bid applications are due back on or before October 1st.  Please see the attached bid form for details and an outline of expectations for these tournaments. The Sanction Fee for each will be $60. If you have any questions, please contact Tyler Strong at tylerstrong@ustatn.com

TOURNAMENT SANCTIONING FOR 2016
We would like to remind you that the months of September and October serve as the Sanctioning Period for all 2016 Junior Tournaments that will be held January 1st - June 30th 2016. Sanctioning requests that are made during the sanctioning period will be charged a $45 fee, pending approval.  
Sanctioning requests made outside of the specified sanctioning period will be charged $90 if approved, so be sure to get your requests in during the sanctioning period.  This allows USTA TN and the Committees sufficient time to review all options and areas, and ensure a quality, balanced schedule for the junior tournaments throughout the state for the first half of the year.
 
Tournaments that wish to be held during the period of
January 1st - June 30th of 2015, 
will request sanctioning between September 1st and October 31st, 2015.

Fee $45 if submitted between 9/1/15 and 10/31/15

 

Tournaments that wish to be held during the period of 

July 1st - December 31st, 

will request sanctioning during the month of January 2016.

Fee $45 if submitted between 1/1/16 and 1/31/16

EARLY DEVELOPMENT CAMP
AUGUST 20TH, 2015

A USTA Tennessee State Early Development Camp was offered
in Murfreesboro on August 15th, 2015 at Old Fort Park. Eighteen 10 and Under players attended the camp, which had a theme of "Expert Rallyer."
Coaches Brian Carper, Devin Crotzer , Joey Hall, Steve Brooks, and Karl Davies all did a fantastic job instructing the camp. Thank you coaches and parents for your dedication to youth tennis!  
12's ~ Sept. 11th-13th ~ Champions Club ~ Chattanooga
14's-18's ~ Sept. 18th-20th ~ Champions Club / Baylor School ~ Chattanooga

Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Memphis
Each circuit consists of three 10U tournaments that will be held in
August through November.

TENNESSEE TENNIS PATRONS FOUNDATION
 

   

The Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation is a Tennessee nonprofit corporation with federal tax-exempt status under IRC 501c3. It promotes the growth and development of tennis in Tennessee, maintains the Tennessee Tennis Hall of Fame, and serves as a link between Tennessee, the other eight states in the USTA Southern section, and community tennis associations in Tennessee.

The foundation provides awards of $500 each to junior players to encourage athletes who compete in the USTA tournament structure. 

The application is online and will be considered within 30 days after submission

 

The foundation provides grants of $250 to Community Tennis Associations, schools, community centers, foundations, and similar groups to help promote the growth & development of tennis, particularly among underserved populations.

STAY CONNECTED WITH ALL OF THE 2015 USTA TENNESSEE 
ADULT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS! 

Congratulations to Adult 40 & over 3.5 Women's team Denman from Memphis for winning sectionals in their division in Asheville a couple of weeks ago.   Their final match score was 4-1 against LA.  
The team has earned a spot at National's October 23-25 in Tucson, AZ.

STATE RESULTS

TENNIS APPRENTICE

 An enthusiastic group of adults hit a major milestone last weekend by completing Tennis Apprentice!  Two sessions were offered - Friday night and Saturday morning, and for the past 6 weeks in Nashville these beginners and former players have been hitting the courts at Centennial Sportsplex for huge doses of instruction, practice & match-play. USTA's John Morris led the lively sessions which covered swing mechanics, footwork and position, doubles strategy, rules of play, equipment, match formats, and more!
Tennis Apprentice is designed to make it easy to just get out and play. 
It is a low-cost, all-inclusive program.  
Each participant in Nashville received: 
6 weeks of instruction & play provided by an experienced professional.
A new tennis racquet....to keep!
USTA membership - 1 year.
Transitional opportunities and assistance with continued play.
